I am not sure how truthful these claims are, but I can not believe anyone trying to justify this Makhdoom's actions, if true.

Spock is not justifying marriage with Quran. All he said is that this news is a hoax and he has cited the source as well.

Firstly, what concrete proof do you have that they were truly married to the Quran? An unnamed email to Cowasjee is hardly proof. Secondly, Fahim's family has already denied it. Lastly, 10 people in a family can do jahil stuff too, with a similar upbringing. Lastly, I am waiting for an apology, since you were first accusing me of justifying marriages to the Quran.

What source does Tariq Ali use? I didnt see any sources in that link, just a description of what marriage to the Quran is, where he was supposed to put his source.

Here’s a very relevant video. Although it’s a part of the series that explores Economic terrorism, it mentioned the bit about how backwardish folks marry their womenfolk to the Holy Quran because they do not want to spread the wealth as prescribed in Islam.
