Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

On mehendi ceremony or not?

**No Makeup reasons:
**Through years, I’ve always loved the natural look & glow a bride has on her mehendi. Without makeup, she looks neat and also looks much more special the next day. I’ve always decided that i will not get makeup from a MUA, not even slight natural one. I’d probably get a hair do & put slight base for the blemishes I have. Maybe kajal, mascara and a transparent gloss or something.

**Yes Makeup reasons:
**But now, I’ve started to wonder that maybe I should get makeup as well. It will give my skin a better coverage specially of scars and under eye circles.

My pictures usually come out fine with or without makeup, so those i am not worried about.

I myself am more inclined to no makeup + hair do look. Help!!

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

i didnt apply anything on my face on mehndi day not even a gloss /kajal i was simple bz i have always liked the simple look .. i just made a side fish braid by myself thats it and i was/am completely satisfied

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Could you share the side fish braid's pic only?

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

I like the no make up look of a bride, even the kajal, mascara, base, lip gloss is too much for me... I didn't have a mehndi, so didn't have this dilemma. But my sister had mascara, clear lip gloss and red nails on her mehndi. She looked simple and nice (on her wedding she had french manicure so it was different on both days)

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Exactly - That's my view too. Simple & elegant. The Barat & Valima days are enough for getting makeup. Some things when kept traditional look better!

Fourof my best friends got married last month & they all got mehendi makeup and are insisting on getting it, although i am not really in favour of it.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

I have hair almost 3 inch below my shoulder, wonder if i can get this or I'd need a paranda or something.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Personally I'd wear very simple foundation and make it as light as possible (and natural as possible), simply to make the colour of my skin seem more fresh and even. Apart from that< i'd probly wear very light eyeliner and nice nails.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

I think brides need gloss , natural or a shade slightly pinker than their skin tone on Mehndis if they opt for the natural look.
Brides are tense /stressed and I'm all for keeping with traditions but some brides even when they have flawless skin end up looking pale and tired- you don't want to look back at your wedding pics and think "OMG I was so exhausted because I had A B C to do before the Mehndi". Gloss is simple ,easy and not overdone.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Kajal, lip balm/gloss and nail enamel. Bus.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Exactly - No to salon!

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

In my opinion, putting on kajal and gloss is makeup . That's what I meant Daffy, a light base applied yourself or by some local parlour girl, kajal and mascara is a must, very light pink blush for contouring gently. Nani is saying YOU must put on blush. YOU as in Daffy

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

haha - Yeah nani told me the other day too to put on blush, I will.

Btw Deme - Don’t you know Deme i don’t need one when H is around :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

i was gonna say the same thing (last line) :)
you will blush and look beautiful on ur day its a Noor from Allah

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

yeh, you need some light natural makeup. so some light foundation, blush that gives a natural flush (it should not be obvious you are wearing it), a bit of gloss on the lips. a must in my opinion, is properly concealed eyes, with or without a light sweep of a pearly beige eyeshadow and mascara. if you don't want to look like you have makeup on, keep the eyeliner minimal.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Insha Allah & Ameen.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

Unless you have amazing skin i would defo apply good natural looking base, concealer etc and personally I think a little light make up goes a long way... esp eyeliner and mascara

Even when no make up looks great to the naked eye it doesn't always work in photos/videos etc....

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

I agree with Stoppit, properly concealed eyes can make a huge difference.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?

^ This! If the mehendi is a VERY simple event (ie. being held at a house with a handful of people) then I think the no-make-up/100% natural look works. But if you're actually having a formal mehendi with guests, decor etc.....then a little natural make-up is necessary. I've seen brides do the no-makeup look on a formal mehendi (heck 1 of my cousins did this).........and quite a few of them looked tired/washed out in the pics and even on that day b/c their no-makeup look just wasn't complimented by their outfits/decor/other people's outfits/makeup etc.

My 2 cents. :)
