Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I did my own very very light makeup on my Mehndi. Cousins helped me with my hair. I had it braided with flowers that I specially got made. We had a proper photo session done for which i needed light makeup.

Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I wanted a natural look on my mehndi, but I still needed foundation coverage. So I put light foundation on to cover scars and even out skin tone, light blush to give me a glow, kajal and mascara, and a natural lip gloss. It sounds like a alot, but it looked like nothing, and my pictures came out way better than if I hadnt been wearing any makeup at all.
I have seen some girls do the whole mehndi makeup thing, and I just feel like it takes away from the other days. They dont look as good on the barat/valima because people have already seen them all dressed up (that happened to one of my cousins).
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
even if you do a full face of makeup on the mehendi, it still wont be as glam/formal as your wedding day makeup because its going to coordinate with your outfit and i don't think your mehendi outfit will be as glam/formal as your wedding dress. don't worry about not looking nice enough on the baraat just because you have makeup on the previous day.
both days, dress appropriately and do your makeup to coordinate. nothing worse than a bride in a gorgeous jora but with a tired, washed-out face because she wanted to go natural. and no, not all brides look that way, but some do and it doesn't make for a very flattering look.
also, you might look good in pics sans makeup on a regular day in regular clothes but on your mehendi day, you'll have both jewellery and fancy, bright clothes on, so the results probably won't be the same.
why don't you do a trial run at home? wear your mehendi outfit and take some pictures without makeup and with light makeup and see which you prefer.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
^that. you could look up some tutorials on natural make-up or "no makeup" looks for the mehndi day. i've seen a couple of brides opt for no makeup, and they just looked depressed and sleep deprived. I wear at least powder and tightline my eyes to get groceries these days, and i can't imagine being completely natural on a mehndi.
That being said, I went all out with my look for my mehndi, because it was the only day I wouldn't be wearing hijab, and I wanted to get really glammed up, since I treated my mehndi as more of a bachelorette. I LOVED how I looked, though. I had an unofficial mehndi at my house the night before, no makeup, hair in a simple braid, yellow shalwar kameez. Don't know how I looked that day, cause I never took pics. Given the option of doing it again, I would go for a more toned down look on my official mehndi night. Over the years, I've become more traditional.

agree with this! if the outfit is very simple (like the older days) then I think a natural look is okay. however, with the elaborate clothes and jewellery most brides are sporting for their mehndi's these days, it will look off.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I am in favor of no foundation no base used but only kajal and nude/pink lip gloss! however if someone has bad skin then yes using base is a good idea but if you have normal skin, let the skin breathe and go easy on it ;).
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
my mehndi is in august and i am def going WITH makeup because in real life ur skin can look amazing, but in pictures it might not look as great and I dont want to look back to my mehndi day and regret it

agreed. a flawless complexion is the best makeup and these days HD cameras catch everything.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
Hehe. There seems to be a confusion - I meant makeup from salon or not.
I am more for applying slight base + eye liner + mascara + gloss at home with a hair do instead of getting a whole mehendi package with proper makeup. They call it natural but it isnt, the base is still quite a lot and that is where the natural touch gets lost so i prefer doing my own thing at home, instead.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
if you yourself know how to cover your skin flaws then there is certainly no need of going to the parlour and get it professionally done. for other like me who are struggling in getting to know how to properly apply base and what suits me I think this is not a very good idea to do it by myself.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
no matter how much u tell the professional people to tone down the look, they hardly ever listen. unless ofcourse if u r going for someone who u have that comfort level with n who u know is gonna listen 2 u otherwise just do it at home.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
^ bina khan does fantastic toned-down makeup.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I think you don't need to get your make-up done, but a soft, natural look with make up is appropriate.
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I think it depends on what your everyday makeup routine is. For example I have been wearing concealer (I have dark under eye circles thanks to genetics) and eyeliner on the bottom everyday since I was 18 so if I did the no makeup look at my mehndi it would look weird!
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I’m in the same situation not sure about the clothes as well as the make up… but I can not be seen with a bare face don’t want scared guests in my case ![]()
like you I want the natural look so might do the whole make up thing with light tones for eye make up such as a nudish pink or something similar…
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I agree...if your mehndi is simple or not a big event then you should get your hair done and do the rest of your makeup aka concealor/base to give ur skin a clean and blemish free look and then kajal and lip gloss or at max u can put on a very light sheen type of eye shadow on ur brow bone and inner corner of ur eyes to give ur eyes that bright look. You could even as much as put a blush tint on ur cheeks like a coral type thats very very sheer just to give glow to ur cheeks and some color but thats it.
IF your mehndi is a larger event I would get makeup done by an MUA but still the natural look and I would go for a fresh glow with minimal color and very natural shades still.
Hope it turns out well :D
My Nikah was held the same day as my mayun/mehndi(at home) so even with less makeup, the Noor made me look good and the pics too turned out great..french braid with paranda..bodyshop loose powder, a lil bit pink blush, pink gloss, kajal and mascara..base was too much for me so I only put on loose powder..I dont have a very good skin and had alot of dark circles back then but still I dont know how I looked better on my mehndi than at my wedding:teary1:
Shall I post pics:hmmm:?
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
YES. desperate bride, my own mehndi in 19 days
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
Sahr yeh bhi koi poochnay wali baat hai? Show pix! :)
Re: Makeup - Yayy or Nayy?
I had a very clean and neat base on my mehndi, no fake lashes, pinkish blush and just really light and bright.
It was really simple but pretty. Plus, when you wear nice clothes...you NEED a little bit of makeup! ;)
