Makeup Help!!!

Oh my god. YES i LOVE arabic make up. I was gonna make a thread about Haifa Wehbe. And her make up.

Its pretty easy you know. But arabs all have absoloutly stunning eyes. So if you have dark eyes you cud invest in some good contacts. However there are arabs that have dark eyes n look stunning.

The key is to fill in your eye brows for that dramatic look, And the more bold the eye shadow is the better. Thick eye liner, That really enhance the eyes.

Ummm what else… Blusher.. and Lip liner with a nice gloss!

i just found it ironic how u were dissing this girl and her groom yet u r the same person who opened up a thread saying that some of ur relatives are spiteful idiots and ur worried about them calling ur groom a 'takla.

not at all. i was just asking you how you would feel if someone went around stating those things about your character based on your wedding video, just like you have no problems labelling someone else "shameless" and "idiotic" based on their wedding video, of all things, and without really knowing them.
obviously your response above clarifies that this would offend you, so why do it to someone else?
which brings me back to how we should all aim to keep the tone in here friendly - it is possible to critique someone's dancing style objectively (i.e. they didn't take any lessons or the choreography was crap) without calling them a skank.

Re: Makeup Help!!!

Thank you huma!! and you have talent yourself!!!! Your eyes are gorgeous in that pic you posted!!!!!!

The third picture from the bottem is actually the eye makeup I did for my own engagement a few weeks ago :) It's my favorite as well!

I have no idea if Surma/khol is safe but I do know that my mom has never used eyeliner in her life and has only ever used Surma. And she refuses to upgrade to any "western" surma .... she stocks up on it whenever she goes back to Pakiland. She obviously has never had a problem with it but I am still skeptical to use the paki stuff.

Why don't you try the L'Oreal HIP Khol?????? Also, the makup brand Physician's Formula also carries a khol/surma... the container it comes in actually makes it look like a legit desi surma too. lol

I would think that these brands would be safe ... or else they would have been sued by now and the products discontinued :)

Re: Makeup Help!!!

And Huma: When I went to Pakistan two years ago, I also noticed the same thing about girls and the eyeliner. I felt like they lined their eyes wayyyyyyyyy too thick on the bottom. It was also summer time when I went… so you can imagine how well that makeup held up in that heat. The liner would always appear way too smudged and runny as opposed to crisp and solid … Arabic look?? no … Panda look??? yes … Racoon look ??? double yes. :smack:

^ Thank you sweety!

Lol yeah I know paki moms love surma! Hashmi Surma is the most popular in pakistan I think. If you look on ebay, you can get Hashmi Surma Eyeliners for very cheap and they look good in pictures. They look really dark. But again, I didn’t want to buy them as I wasn’t sure of the quality.

Shahnaz Hussain also has a herbal Surma/Kohl eyeliner. I could trust her products. Guerlain eye kohl is another one but way too expensive. My mom would immediately start comparing the prices between the surma she has and the surma i buy from guerlain! :aj: lol

I’m still quite new to this makeup thing and haven’t tried many products but its kinda hard to find an eyeliner that would stay on all day and would not smudge.

Re: Makeup Help!!!

You are welcome! ^

Mabey you know this or any of the other guppies - but does surma come out darker than eyeliner???? I have a lot of experience with eyeliner but not any with Surma.

And what are people's experiences with Surma smearing/smuding? Better/worse than eyeliner?

Huma- look into the L'Oreal HIP Khol/surmas or Physician Forumula - Both are very affordable! You can order them online! They would probably not be as cheap as our mother's surmas ...but definitely wayyyyyy cheaper from Guerlain. Lol!

I think every girl is on the hunt to find that perfect eyeliner that is dark dark dark and stays on all day without smudging! As I mentioned earlier, I have tried so many brands and like Milani best for pencil and Urban Decay for liquid. MAC's waterproof liquid liner definitely stays on all day and does not smudge... but it is too thick for my taste and later becomes impossible to wash off!

Guppies - do u have other eyeliner suggestions???

thanks so much!

:k:

Great thread and tips.

Re: the video, at 1:00… OMG…that dude must really trust his freinds.
Some parts of the video are just so cute (like the little girl dancing). i dotn see anything bad about it..every family has thier own way of doing things…personally the coupel could’ve chosen a better dance, but she hardly looks bad or vulgar…some of yall are acting like she’s doing a stripper/pole dance..

Re: Makeup Help!!!

When I saw the picture I thought the groom looked very young (and dare I say it quite feminine) He will probably be grateful of looking so young in a few years time lol.

I do agree with other posters that girls should have that 'fresh faced' natural look on the mehndi as it allows you to look at your best on the actual wedding day. On my mehndi I want to just go with a little concealer and maybe some natural peach blusher and a bit of chapstick on my lips so they don't look dry lol. Nothing else. But each to their own.

Re: Makeup Help!!!

waisey its off topic but they had a pretty nice mehndi entrance… not often u hear blak eye peas at a desi wedding

This is my attempt to arabic make up!! I tried with the liner. I’m gonna try putting liquid eye liner in my water line i never thought of that. I got a mac one! I love the mac eye liner its sooo dark!!

Re: Makeup Help!!!

Re: Makeup Help!!!

Re: Makeup Help!!!

Re: Makeup Help!!!

Re: Makeup Help!!!

gorgeous eyemakeup mixed beauty!! i luv the shape of your eye (weird compliment i know) lol. I try to make my eye's look longer to give them that more exotic look that yours naturally have.

I definitely think the intensity of surma/kohl is darker than that of an eyeliner. But because its a powder formula, it will smear. Quite hard to take off as well.

lol, ok so my next buy is going to be L'Oreal HIP Kohl! As far as gel eyeliner is concerned, I'm currently using Mac's gel eyeliner in blacktrack but I've heard pretty good reviews about Bobbi Brown's gel eyeliner... supposed to be the best.

OMG don't put liquid eyeliner on your waterline!! nooo!!! I don't know about ur eyes but 99% of the people end up with red eyes when they put on liquid eyeliner on their waterline!

Great eye makeup, by the way.

Also, what contacts are u wearing? Other people please also comment on what are the best lenses to use for us paki girls with dark eyes.

One of my cousins was wearing contacts on my sister's wedding and they looked sooooo fake! There's no proper contact lens brand in pakistan is there? I was going to wear them on her wedding too but my uncle (he's an eye surgeon) he told us not to even think about it! lol.. so we didn't buy any contacts from pakistan.

Also, I've seen some pictures of desi brides who're wearing contacts and their eyes show up red in the camera light. Is there a way to prevent this? Which contacts work best for us?

Cheers
