Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Shanaz Yaqub for me is amazing! She did my best friend's makeup on both wedding and walima and did an amazing job. She's really good with hair and to be honest not as drag queen type as Sadia Akram. She is cheaper than Sadia as well and provides double day discounts. She gave 2 completely different looks and her service was of a very high standard. She's really down to earth and does her job to a professional standard. She doesn't really advertise her real brides as much but if you contact her I'm sure she can show you her portfolio. Good luck

Shanaz is also based in Birmingham

Hi Tahiya! Thank you sooo much for your response, just saw your msg hence the late reply! SY is really good but I want emphasis on my eyes and she seems to only do softer bridal looks - did your friend have dramatic eyes? SY also did make up for one of my friends and it was very natural looking, didn't really stand out.

I've seen some of the prices that people on this thread were quoted last year for bridal hair and make up - I think the recession must have hit the hair and beauty industry pretty badly because MUA prices seem to have doubled/ tripled in the space of a year! I really like Dil and Jawaad but both are quoting £850. Annie Shah emailed me back saying she only does makeup for brides (even though I told her I wanted bridal makeup - duno what she meant). I've heard good things about Ambreen - has anyone tried her?? How much does she charge? Sadaf hair and beauty looks quite good as well but some of her pics seem cakey, can anyone vouch for her?

There are a few upcoming younger MUAs in Birmingham that i'm thinking of using (Jess, Sumi, Opulence Beauty), their fb pics look pretty good.. is this is a good idea considering these MUAs don't have the same experience as some of the popular/ established ones?? I'm so confused! :S

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

A lot of these top MUA's invest in a lot of money to advertise. For example "Vanity" magazine charges £4000 to do the makeup for just the front cover, So you can just imagine what Asiana magazine would charge. This is one of the main reasons why they charge so much money for their services compared to MUA's who don't advertise. Also because they are being recognised in magazines their services are becoming more in demand. And of course with experience their hand has become better.

As much as I love Dil's work, it doesn't mean there isn't anyone else out there that isn't as good as him. Do your research and most importantly go on trials.x

Hey Winterbride, my SIL used Ambreen for her wedding cos she's friends with her, but even for her the price was pretty steep, and it was about 2 years ago. The price she paid was around £450, and when I asked my SIL to find out prices recently for my sister's wedding, she said the prices have definitely gone up higher.

BUT I think she does make-up really well, my SIL's make-up was beautifully done. I'd post pics but she doesn't want her pics going public. PM me and I'll send you a pic though.

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

thank you very much ladies, i’m gona trial with Ambreen, she quoted me £495 if I was in London but £850 if she comes to me in Brum :o

I’ve had one trial with a lesser know MUA and it was ok, it was too traditional and looked slightly caked on.. maybe I should’ve taken a pic of the style I wanted

i’m also considering Zukreat and Sadia Akram, both are quite pricey but I like their make up, especially Zukreats!

Someone recommended Raj Dhillon to me - has anyone had any experience with her? Also Shazia Younas is another one i’ve seen on fb - any recommendations for her?

This is so difficult!! Too many MUAs out there, hard to tell which are good! And spending 100s of £s on trials is something I can’t afford to do  How are brides supposed to remain stress free before the wedding when wedding planning is so LONG!

xxxxx

Re: Makeup Artists in UK [all threads merged]

Hey just came on this forum again afterlonggg time as we’re now planning my sisters wedding so thought id take bit of advise and pass on some of my own…
i got married in 2010 and used Faces by avina (www.facesbyavina.com](http://www.facesbyavina.com/)) and i honestly can say it was the best decision i made, after having 5 trials with other MUAs (i wont name n shame but some of the trials were horrendous even though they werewell known names with v impressive portfolios). theres nothing better thanhaving a trial and seeing the work on your own skin for yourself. avina is afab artist - try for urself ul thank me later lol!

now were planning my sisters wedding next march, shes obviously booked Avina for it bit shes only available for the walima. she has a team too she suggested for the nikah and mehndi event but not sure if we wana risk her assistants doing the other main days for my sis. hmmm so feeling very confused…avina also recommended gini bhogal and ambreen but wen we rang theyr both not avail either. arghhhhelp this is such a nightmare! lol

on another note…anybody know of a good photographer who doesnt charge over £8000 per day??? wev been getting crazy quotes, but the cheaper ones dont seemto have the same standard of work. if any1 knows of a gud photographer pleasedo share! Xx

£800+ plus for wedding day make up?! That is bloody ridiculous!

She made my big day sooooooooooooo special. worth every penny I am not sure if she changed her number or its still the same but i have this one try anyway. 07951197430
