Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
i think they are supposed to be best for dryer skin. the general opinion is that they get too oily on people with oily skin.
Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
^ ah I see, that counts me out then as I have combination edging towards oily skin.
Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
In fact they say Mineral make-up are good for all skin kind....they do not clog or dry your skin.
Quite contrary to what stoppit said Mineral make-ups have no oils and lets your skin breathe.

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
Choozy, most mineral foundations contain bismuth which clogs pores and stimulates sebaceous glands.
I have been hanging around online makeup communities and forums for years and have seen the initial excitment over mineral foundation right when Bare Escentuals etc were gaining popularity. So my opinion is based on people's actual experiences with Mineral makeup. Not only that but a lot of people actually changed to other foundations after that initial period of 'this stuff is awesome, i love it!'.
Really, the only people I know who look good with mineral makeup and continue to use it are those who already have practically flawless skin and don't need the coverage anyway.
To quote from some site: "Many think that it's good for oily skin, but a number of the professional artists I collaborate and work with agree that you can look quite shiny with this product (as you can with others) depending on your skin type, and we prefer it more for a normal to dry skin that has been moisturized."
I agree, mineral makeup is for people with flawless skin, no blemishes or open pores! It gives VERY little coverage and uptill now i've only seen colors that would suit very fair skins.
And you don't like MAC powders?
i use MAC but it still melts and makes my face look oily
^ Primer that wud keep u're skin matte and shine-free! Keep pre-powdered blotting papers with u at all times..(it's one of my handbag MUST have's) by Body Shop.
Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
^ Gina, could you suggest any good primers to use? Also, what facial sunscreen brand would you reccomend?
Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
Smashbox Primer is by far the best. The regular one for Normal/Dry Skins and
Light one for the Oily/Combination skins.
Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)
^ Thanks Choozy. I'm going to try Smashbox primer. I've heard others rave about it also. Laura Mercier is another good brand I hear.
