Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Heya,
by color palette i mean the colors of the clothes that you might wear after your shadi.. like for example when i went to pick out my makeup i took all my dupatta’s with me to match shades and make sure i had every color.. so that i wasnt lost and running around last minute to buy stuff.
The hydration fix is a mist spray.. so like body mist it dries off right awy and seals the makeup in its place.. I got my makeup done at 3 thinkng my inlaws wud show up at 6.. apparently my fiance wantd to get me flowers and got 2 hrs late.. so i had makeup on my face all vening and in the pics it looks like i just got it done.. so highly highly recommend that!!
oh and studio-fix by MAC is a powdered form of foundation.. its amazing!! I wud stick to that if you havent used foundation much..

Pretty much all their makeup is water-proof hun.. dont worry you arent being ignorant.. my pleasure to tell u!!

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

**Guys 1 more thing I would like to pick your brains on...

My cousin mentioned that usually her make-up vanishes within 2 hours of
application...it's like her skin "eats" away her make up :D

**

  • ** What could be the reasons of make-up fading away??**
  • ** Is there a way to control it??** ** You guys have been so helpful that it's unbelievable!!! Wealth of information!

Thank you tons!**

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

I think one should only wear wat they feel comfortable wid makeup-wise... but also dont b afraid to xperiment n try out new makeup items as u may even surprise urself! btw, difference between liquid n stick foundation is dat liquid is usually easily absorbed and more moisturising whereas d stick is not as messy to apply but can have a drying or matte effect.

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Must use a moisturiser first before applying foundation. However for party makeup best to use a primer - helps makeup stay in place all day. Another thing is face spritz which is like a spray u apply after doing ur makeup -it again helps set makeup but if your skin is dry then i wouldnt go for that as it can really dry d face..

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Eye makeup is scary business, this one time i tried to do some eye makeup and when I was done, I felt as it I have replaced my eyes with some witch's eyes. Then this one time I decided to apply the eyeliner, I think don't know how to apply that properly either....:(

On my sister's wedding I applied little foundation and I made sure it had kind of blended with the skin of face and neck and on that I applied little blush and my bro commented it looks as if my face has been painted...lol... After that I decided to just stick with moisturizer and lipstick. lolz

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

eye pencils and mascara... always keep in handy!

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

is your cousin in pakistan? cos humidity and temperature will also affect your makeup. it might be a good idea to mention those things to the person helping you buy your makeup. they'll be able to suggest things that will stay put. and at the end of the day, if you're going to karachi in the summer, you will NOT want to wear foundation and powder and concealer- it WILL melt away in the heat and it'll feel gross- i remember when i was there.

so, the main thing too, is you work with a good base, i.e. your skin. drink tons of water, flush out all the toxins, use a good moisturiser, take your makeup off every night before going to bed. once you have clear skin, you can get away with minimal coverage on your face, and just focus on playing with your makeup to get a look you're comfortable with. if you don't like doing your eyes with liner, use your finger to apply shadow all over your lid and top with two coats of mascara. its equally effective. :)

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

To all the beauticianz out there …how cum wen u apply makeup on a bride…it lookz so different to the way any person wud do it normally…i mean do u use sumthing extra so it looks extra good  ??? (dumb question) lol and alsooo i dnt understand how the bridal makeup doesnt crease or budge after hours n hours, like my eyez wont tolerate eyeshadow watsoeva …alwayz creases after a short while, hence i dnt bother with it anymore lol are there products out there that u can use before u apply eyeshadow to make it stay in place :woho:

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

I’ve never heard of nuba, pupa, stila or laura mercier…where r those available from ? :meeno:

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

^^
Lol - the makeup brands mentioned in my previous post r all available online also sum r available from department stores n good pharmacies - i.e. Boots in UK.

Also, as i am a beautician i can only speak for myself - i only use d best quality makeup items on clients as its all about creating a good flawless base which lasts all day long - whether its lippy, eyeshadow or d foundation - it is all in d makeup brand u use, d technique u use to apply it, ur personal skill/experience and ur keen eye to detail as well as ur artistic flair - which obviously results in various techniques of applying eyeshadow n creating definition where required as well as accentuating d best features...

U need to personally xperiment n practice wid makeup - always ensure u take time and apply makeup on cleansed skin - use a moisturiser beforehand to get foundation to set, using a primer can help also.

Hope dat helps!

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Hmmm so itz all about the foundation u use …wud tht prevent makeup from fading away n stop the eyeshadow from creasing…

Also do u use water with ur foundation …coz i was told by sumone tht beauticianz actually use water with the foundation …dunno y …but i started doing tht lol n itz kinda gud doesnt make the face look like itz got tonnes of foundation on there lol …if u use water or kno the reason behind ..plz do let me kno :meeno: lol n thnx

Re: Make-Up (Buying essentials)

Yeah the few times I have used foundation was with water. I saw the beautician who did my sister's makeup on her wedding applying foundation like that, so I thought this is how you do it and I did it the same way on myself...lol
