I'm looking for a reputable salon/makeup artiste in the Houston area (Hillcroft/Galleria area) who can do my Walima makeup, dupatta setting and hair. Do you have any reccomendations and advice on who to go for, who to avoid?
do whtever u want just dont go the new hina salon..the aunties there are just rude
ghazala is a new salon and so far i have only seen good dulhans from them
aisha herself does a great job but other ladies working there don't know much and i am sure since this is wedding season it will be super hard to get her to do your makeup.
I have heard good things about Sarah Ali at Transformation studio, in sugarland.Havent gotten any makeup done from her personally though.
chk out her website at The Transformation Studio

I love how you and i are looking for the samething!...my sister is in dallas for a week now and called 100 billion make up artists and she said so far shes seen their work, its nothing but crap!
Her wedding is NEXT MONTH...we r in deep need of help lol
^i am from dallas too, and my wedding was in dec 08!! :)
oh i miss dallas... :(
anyway...i had no luck either...the goras i went to either did the typical southern heavy cakey foundation or very very light...i wanted a happy medium of east and west...
so after 5 or 6 trials..i decided to do it myself...and thank god.....the pics i took after the trials were horrible!!! and i did NOT want to look like that on my wedding! :)
*studio sila wanted to charge me $450 for the makeup and hair, plus traveling charges to dallas..
i also contacted face artistry, who wanted a min of $600 for booking charges, basically she said she books 1 wedding on saturdays and serves the entire bridal party...
the desi salons suck..dirty, ruuuuude aunties, i just got my hair done at some salon in Irving and came back to the hotel to do my makeup. My mom pinned the dupatta....it all worked out Alhamdulilah!
I went to see 4 "makeup artists" after looking at their portfolios...and either they faked their work/advertisement or i dont know...but their makeup in person did not match the portfolios.
a lot of them dont travel, unless you pay for the entire wedding party. They dont want to travel for $65 makeup application of one person...there is always a min charge. Unless you are ok with hopping from one place to another for hair and makup you may have some luck, but i couldnt find good services for both under one roof.
