they are both wonderful!! i didnt find any good desi ones..i am still looking for a good desi bridal hairstylist…since they d know better about the dupatta setting etc…
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
thank you! i like the first one better but it seems so expensive! over $500! its ok about the hairstylist, we know a family friend who does wonderful bridal hairstyling, so really i'm only looking for a make-up artist. it would be good to find one that knows more about the paki style because i don't want something too light but not something too fake-looking either. do you think their (the first website's) 'basic application' would be enough for a desi bride? or would i have to go for the bridal package?
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
you can get their prom package…its like $65…and it doesnt look light…plus you can take a picture of what you want from a magazine or something..and do a trial with them…

Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
thank you for the help. i guess i'm looking for a more desi type artist. because i got my nikkah make-up done from MAC here, but everyone was like you don't have any make-up on, you are a bride you should have had more makeup. so i guess for the actual wedding i don't wanna go too light again. i think that prom package would work, no? it doesn't seem too light but not too heavy. man i really liked the bridal package but theres no way i can afford that :( l do you have experience or know anyone who has had experience from the places you have posted?
also, are you from the dallas area too?
again, thank you for your help!
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
Try Mac's artists at Galleria Mall. The do a much better job as far as I have seen.
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
ooops sorry just read u didnt have a good experience with Mac...was it from the galleria??
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
no it wasn't from the galleria mall. from the willow bend mall. but i don't think it was the artist that was bad, i think they just didn't know how heavy to go. because i personally loved the make-up but everyone else told me it wasn't enough (even my mom).
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
Wow, usually mac makeup artists have really heavy makeup, at least hte ones here do.... Or maybe they do it differently on their clients than on themselves?
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
What colors did you go for.Like what was the color of your outfi verus your makeup. The pics I have seen in the websites mentioned above are all too light. The eyes are not played up like our own Pakistani makeup artists do.I know the lady at Zulfain Salon in irving used to do a good job.
One thing I can suggest is maybe look up makeup artists in the Desi Yellow Pages or maybe ask recommendations from maybe that Radia Salam Namaste people. And aanother suggestion is in Houston there is Ayesha's Beauty Salon...ask for a recommendation from her as she owns 5 salons and also provides classes ...surely she my remember someone really good in Dallas.
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
my dress color was tea pink and maroon, and the eye makeup was pink, gold and a little hint of purple as a shadow. but yeah, the eye makeup and especially the foundation/base was really light. my wedding dress will most probably be white or some light shade.
thats a good idea about desi yellowpages, and the radio people. i'm gonna try that. thank you.
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
don't they have Sila studio in Dallas ?
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
hey mehreen..yeah i live in fort worth...and yeah...the prom makeup is pretty heavy...remember to take a photo of what you want...have them do a trial on you...you can tell them exactly what you want..
i am surprised...most of the gori women i know end up putting a lot of makeup...haha..
and Sila is in Austin...she can travel to dallas area..only if you pay for her trip...

oh nice!! i am looking for a hairstylist....does your friend have a salon??
Re: bridal makeup in dallas, TX?
unfortunately she doesn't have a salon. she only does them on special requests, in a little parlor area she set up in her basement before she had kids, but nowadays she is busy with her children, (she used to work for Tony & Guy so she has lots of experience desi & american).
sounds great about the prom make-up then!! and i guess thats why they have trials, to see if you are satisfied. i'll check it out. do you know anybody with experience at any of these places?
