i got my hair and makeup done by xpressions for my brother's mehndi...good job, but were tardy and charged extra for unnessary things....
we were supposed to start at 5.30...we had even signed a contract for that time...so we show up at her place at 5.30 exact, and only amber is there, not the other girl ( forgot her name)...and she has just started on this other bride's hair and makup and dupaatta...so me and my bhabhi are siting tghere waiting untilthle other girl comes, while amber is doing this dulhan..by the time the other girl comes its 6-somthing, and she starts doing my bhabhis hair...my bhabhi wants girls swept to the side with a flower...and they said they charnge an extra 20 bucks for doing curls (on top of the 110 they usually charge for hair and makeup)....so this dulhan is finally done, then amber does mymakeup...shes good..and fast......well we were finally ready at 7.30 and ended up being a little late to the mehndi..but hey, i dint look good...to this day, my aunt cant stop raving about how good i looked..lol....
my other cousin also does bridal makeup...her name is hina...she works for vasanti...if anyone is interested, pm me....

lol..i would love that..i so need some tips! im hopeless with makeup..my sister and i did that...had a makeover party..but half the girls didnt bring their own makeup, but overall it was fun...

Humeira, you once posted a link for Racquel Lacson, a makeup artist in Canada. I went to her website, and really liked her work. Have you ever had her personally do your makeup, and is it as good as the website? I'm interested in contacting her for my wedding next year (I'm finding it impossible to find a makeup artist who knows how to do the right kind of bridal makeup here in NY) and am probably going to consider contacting her soon. Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks.

sorry for this late reply ..no I've never got make-up done from her but I know she is good she has bridal make up for my freinds and trust me she is terrific..just like you see her work in the pics give her a call talk to her..she's very freindly. I 've talked her few times because I am also egtting married next year BUT in San Francsico and i've been thinking to hire her..still debating ..very expensive and I know she travels for weddings you wont regret. it's worth it..her work is amazing..and she is very professional.You'll love her work.

My wedding is going to be in Boston, Mass.... so yeah, facing almost the situation as yourself in regards to finding a makeup artist who does the style of makeup pakistani brides require. Good luck with getting things together long-distance! It must be such a strain!

i cant pm none of you since they wont lemme .. i dont hav enuff posts as of now..
so.. i went around to all the places you all recommended.. i really liked racquel lacson.. however not very impressed with her dupatta setting..

also, who's a good photographer down here for desi bridal ceremonies?
i once saw this distant relative's daughter's weddin pictures.. not only were they fab, they were all digitall printed into a binder.. loved em
however, dont remember where they got it done from...

actually i went to one of the girls' home to do it (it was in rexdale)..but they said they usually come to your home (but i had all these guests at home and it was too many pple there..i wanted to get ready in calm place...)
well i wanted to do my hair and makeup....that was i think around $110....they then charged me an extra $15-20 for a "hair extension" for my paranda (which i could have bought myself for like 10 bucks at the flea market)....my bhabhi also paid $110 for her hair and makeup..then they charged her extra $20 just for curls...which i thought was a stupid extra charge....that was her hairstyle that she wanted - curls...they didnt even use hot rollers...just a normal curling iron...they also charged her an extra $5-10 for a flower for her hair....
they did a good job (we got rave reviews..lol...)...but too expensive and tardy...i only paid that much because it was my brother;s mehndi..how many time would i have to look good in my life?
