Make FATA a separate province: Khattak

While Peshawar government is busy struggling with new name: Khyber, Wilayat, Afghania, Afghanistan, London, New York, we must not forget the FATA people. They have aspriations too.

FATA refuses to join Sooba Sarhad. Several efforts in that direction have failed. So why not offer them self rule in the form of a province? Heck they can call their assembly the shoora assembly, and call their courts as Jhagra oops Jirga.

I propose the name of the new province as Khattak or Khattokabad province. This way we keep the name of a great Pashtoon alive.

Or if people feel strongly about their link with Afghanistan, then we can name it King Zahir Shahabad.

So here are the suggestions for the names:

  1. Khattak
  2. Khattak-abad
  3. Zahir
  4. Zahir-abad

Any more suggestions?

man I normally stop at this forum, but wht are you on and where can i get some.....how many khattaks live in FATA...you are naming an entire region after a tribe? A tribe that hardly has that many people..while you are at it name the paxtun belt in baluchistan as achakzai lolllllllllllllllll...FATA should be incorporated wihtin NWFP, as well as the paxtun belt within baluchistan, collectively (mianwali too ) it should be called Afghania/Paxtunkhwa. Antiobl say something worthwhile...khattak, go to the tribal areas and say that they will laugh at you lmao. FATA must be within NWFP.

plus even with the excuse of naming it after Khushal baba is foolish as he aspired for Paxtun unity, so that will go against his wishes not to mention his very famous couplet: -

Da AFGHAN pa nang maye watharala thoora
Nangyalaye da zamanaye Khushal khan khattak yam

That should be approach #1. However 60 years have gone by and Peshawar government has done squat on this important issue. Moreover FATA people do not want to be part of Sooba Sarhad. I do not see them taking processions out demanding the rule of Peshawar. If you know more on this, I'd love to hear more.

Option #2 is to make FATA as separate province. For heavens sake, they are part of our country,

Why can't they have their own rule?
Why they have to be F.A.T.A (**Federally **administered Tribal Areas)?
Why are they being subjected to the draconian FCR (Frontier Crimes Regulations)?
Are they of any lesser degree of human beings?

So let me repeat (If I may).

Options #1 Put FATA under Peshwar's control. If that doesn't work out in the next few years, Only then

Option #2 is to make FATA as a province.

As you realized later, I was referring to Baba Ji Khoshal Sahib. He is a legend and he deserves to have things named after him.

Even though Baba Ji was talking about being Afghani, the name Afghanistan is already taken. And we should be creative enough to come up with new names.

It is like you love Honda cars, and end making your car one day. But the name Honda is already taken, so you can't show your love for that brand by naming your car as Honda.

Balochistan issue is different. They already have a province, but FATA doesn't.

it doesn't matter..FATA was a colonial thing and is against the wellbeing of the people there, so by creating your own province, it will get you nowhere. Een if they agreed, its not that they don't want to be a part of NWFP, but that they refuse to be under mainstream rule, so you are just running circles. Second of all you can't rename a province by a tribe, irregardless of who it is after. Fata is paxtun territory so it should be brought under NWFP, the PATA areas were, bring in the FATA. The people of our region ahev already agreed on three names, Afghania/Paxtunkhwa/Paxtunistan, these are the names, why not not let us have this? Such a tiny thing and it riles up islamabad, how did you expect to have anything else done, with its been 60 years and a name change is still an issue...loll

Rename FATA to TATA (Taliban Administered Tribal Areas). I think I read this suggestion in some newspaper today.

They are consist of seven tribes and the reason they are FATA is because they dont want to unite with any entity, not even with each other

Well "Paxtun" territory in Afghanistan has 100's (Ok large number) of provinces, why can't we have two in Pakistan?

I like Paxtunkhwa better than the other two. However the latest reports are that a "naming committee" has forwarded "Afghania" as the final option.

If that gets approved by Sarhad Assembly, then more power to it.

p.s. Afghania brings the image of dusty, poverty-stricken, warlord-infested region that gets raped by foreign armies every 10 years. It is almost like somebody picks Mogadeshu, Sierra Leon, or worse Gaza for their territory. So awful! I'd have chosen a different name.

Economic conditions change from time to time...ask the rest of the world about Pakistan, I am sure they have great things to say lolllll. Afghan is an ethnic title for our people, it was used by all our great poets, since its time has been designated for the Paxtuns. Afghanistan's situation is different, as it is not a confederation of many nations bonded by ONE commanilty ---> islam. Afghanistan was a Paxtun country (originally) when Paxtuns choose Abdali as their king, the lands shumal and west are part of his empire, and was whatever was left after the great game. Plus Paxtuns are already divided, a single name change has pakistan's govt panties in a bunch, so I can see how the and what the federal government will do.

Economically that will be a disaster.

That province won't have any economy to drive its engine and thus people will become even more poor and thus resort to crime, creating a black market.

Its a disaster.

To Fix, FATA, large amounts of money needs to pumped into so that proper economic development can take place.

^ money is not the only issue .... "control" is, free flow of money will result into free flow of weapons.

I am sorry bro, but surrendering thousands of soldiers actually shows that we didn't put up a good enough fight. I don't want to take this thread to a different direction, but bravery is to die for the fatherland.

Kargil was an example of bravery, but not '71.

Exactly. I wonder how much this would have been tolerated if someone said the same thing about the majority province of Pakistan?

I can give you countless examples where Pakhuns have been slighted, called worse names and treated like animals. If DASBZ sounds bitter against Pakistan, can you blame him? Even in his angry response, he has mentioned facts not some third rate opinions.

Seriously, I am holding back for the sake of Pakistani unity.

i still say that in 71 there were half-million other factors then bravery of pak army.
