Major turn offs

Re: Major turn offs

  1. those who do NOT take religion seriously and make fun of it
  2. those who do NOT respect their elders
  3. those who talk to others disrespectfully

Re: Major turn offs

Isn't it said that we shouldn't have expectations when it comes to others since they are human too and that is the only way towards happiness rather than expecting a person to have manners or be respectful towards others...

Re: Major turn offs

was it for me?

  • guys with a God complex ... Must do as I say or else!

  • guys who don't know how to balance relationships ... always favor his own even when he knows they are wrong

  • guys who have gone out with all of your friends and their friends and their friends, in an effort to get to know her (yet after 20 million tries he is still the victim and can't find a single decent girl to marry)

  • guys with a pot belly

  • an uncle type who wants at least 10 years age gap and believes any girl over 25 is expired milk

  • guys who are liars, dishonest, hypocrites, materialistic, close minded, inflexible, and too self involved

  • guys with unrealistic expectations + double standards

  • guys who meet you with preconceived (negative) notions of who you are and even though clearly they're against these notions, they'll still waste your time and put you down for what they think you stand for

  • guys with constantly sweaty palms

  • guys who tell cheap poetry / bad jokes to flirt with girls

  • guys who have a strong Indian English accent or hyderabadi/bombay accent

  • guys with a bad temper scare me!

  • guys who don't take their education/career/personal development seriously

  • guys who refuse to move a muscle when it comes to household chores and take pride in this fact

  • anyone who doesn't have basic manners ... like guys who burp in your face and laugh out loud because it is so funny!

Re: Major turn offs

So, effectively one should look like a man but can be molded like a little boy?

Re: Major turn offs

Personally, I think that means that we should not have ridiculously high expectations (as they are only human), not that we should not have any.

Re: Major turn offs

Meri zaat zarra e benishan.....

Rumi said thus, "The dancer asks me, 'I shall have you pay me in diamonds for my dance isn't cheap'. The lover asks me, 'What do you offer for my love?' The muezzin asks, 'How many prayers have you counted o Rumi', ALLAH says 'Rumi, take my love for I giveth and you taketh' For Allah the creator of the worlds doesn't see the sinner Rumi, he sees his lover. AHhh what wise words, what wise indeed rumi... May we think like Rumi too...

Re: Major turn offs

interfering ones:
complaining ones: those who are always complaining about one thing or the other and seldom count their blessings.
always looking for MUFTA ones: even if they have loads of money in their pockets that they can spend, the still look around shamelessly for MUFTA. and they ask for Mufta as if that is their right. that is a major major turn off for me.
**Asking for favors and wanting the other person to must oblige **as if it is not a favor but the obligation.

Re: Major turn offs

sounds intriguing but has also left me confused...the purpose of the above saying is to express that people are materialistic?! where as Allah only wants love in return of all that he gives? Rite.

Re: Major turn offs

It's sad that the more religious looking a guy is, the more annoyed I am and suspicious he is a hypocrite. That's the state of Muslims today. Religious garb but dirty people.

So I do not go for anyone who wears religious garb or yaps on and on about religion.

Also, guys who are chauvinists, think they're better than women or think they need to bestow their "wisdom" on women or guys who control them.

A guy who dictates whether or not you should work.

A guy who dictates whether you wear a hijab cloth on your head.

A guy whose mom is a problem. Even if the guy is nice and his mother seems like she could be a problem - bye bye, you no get to be my kids' grandma or live in grandma/caretaker.

I have seen way too many kids end up retarded because smart mom was at work and too busy to impart any wisdom to her kids and the kids are being raised by painful caretakers. I kid you not, kids who are starting KG and no clue about A, B, C's or my fav - miniature grand kids who act like thir paindoo grandparents mimicking their gossip ridden grandma.

Re: Major turn offs

^ ok, added some more.

Re: Major turn offs

Well not so "smart" these moms are if they can't get their priorities right. If the mother is so concerned about her kids acting like paindoos cuz of their grandparents, then she should sit at home and do her first and foremost important job i.e raise her kids!

Re: Major turn offs

you mean those ladies who are busy building their careers :hmmm:

Re: Major turn offs

^ exactly. I agree. And sadly many women don't, and even if they do if MIL feels a certain value is right that will trump any teaching her DIl would give.

Was speaking to a woman the other day with an unruly kid and was lamenting on how she is behind the a-ball on disciplining her kid because if she ever tried to discipline him, MIL would get in the way and say "don't say anything to my chaand".
