Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
good to know so many of you are residing in TX :)
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
Are snow storms as catastrophic as hurricanes ? just needed some info..
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
Seems like DFW area folks are also considering moving, or atleast stocking up in anticipation of a major (Cat 1+ hurricane). Unless the storm changes direction rather quickly by Saturday, about the only people who will be going INTO Dallas area would be TV crews and news reporters. Hmmm....
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
Fort Bend county…Sugar Land area…hmm, we’re now planning to leave for Dallas at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning…don’t know if it will be dangerous to do so but perhaps better than staying here…![]()
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
I am in North Carrollton at the border of the City of Lewisville and as far as I know, I am staying.
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
I recall seeing on the news that it’s around 160 mph for the Sugar Land area too…besides all F.B.I.S.D. schools are closed Thurs. & Fri…now that we have my Dad convinced, i’m not even sure if going to Dallas is worth it…
Are ppl in Dallas leaving or staying??
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
definitely not that good swimmers. They want to wait until Friday and SEE what happens
Lord have mercy. I have already told them a million times today to LEAVE the area!
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
Category 5…
er..
I’d be driving out of there with my family and anything valuable and at least a week’s supply of clothing for each member of the family.
Also a frying pan. To cook.
:halo: You never know what may befall you.

Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
I have heard them say that as long as you are in west of I-35 in Dallas, you are fine. My problem is I am right on I-35, pretty close to it anyway. ![]()
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
^ I think you should be fine Chupkese.
Houstonians need to definitely pack up and leave sigh
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
People of Texas coastal areas: Please take with you one pair of an animal found in/around your region. Kaleem Bhai can take a pair from the lineage of Bush.
:D
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
What is so wishful about detroit. I just moved from there last year and I don’t miss it a bit.
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
yea i think i'll be ok...a lot of ppl in houston r thinkin bout staying. doesnt seem rite...
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
A lot of people seem to be leaving Houston. I got home from HEB about an hour ago and noticed quite a few cars in the parking lot of my apartment complex being loaded up by people who're leaving town.
The grocery stores are going nuts...Wal-Mart and HEB is totally out of water and bread and has been since this morning......most canned items are also gone.
My parents want me to come home but I told them I don't think it's a good idea for me to head towards Dallas now....I'm sure the traffic is horrible....it's gonna be waaaay more than 4 hours for me to get there and if anything happens b/t here and there, with all the traffic, and considering cell phones don't work in some little town in b/t, I'll be screwed. Last time I was coming back from Dallas, in 2 hours out of Houston one of my tires blew out...and I had to call for AAA to come and help me.
Hopefully things won't be too bad....I stocked up on food and Coke(went to 3 grocery stores today and all were out of water). Got several candles....will fill up buckets and tub with water tomorrow night....
Re: Major Hurricane Rita Gunning For Texas.
If there's major damage to another U.S. city after this, I don't know how we're gonna handle it. Especially if it's in Texas.
Rita is now a Category 5 hurricane with winds of 165 mph.
