Maids...

First of all, i think all of us have become so dependable on them that its not even funnie. Because than we have to tolerate their bad behavior, casual attitue, nakhras, bateemezis, choris (ask me :halo:) and stupid demands. Sigh

I end up having alot of arguments with Mom on this because i tell her not to tolerate their tanturms and bateemezis but than she says that you will have to adjust since we can’t do all the stuff ourself. And nowadays all the maids are like this. If you tell them to not do something their very first reaction is “baji apna bandobast kar lo”…LOL!. It sounds funnie rite now but at that time you just want to kill them or yourself.

Also, i have noticed this weird thing that nowadays when people are actually being nicer to the maids…i mean before i know everyone use to treat them like dirt. But now like we make sure they get the same food that we eat..they get bonuses and clothes every season yet the maids of the olden days were much more commited and respectable. Why is that?

Also share your maid-stories?..

oh ya that reminds me…this house help we have in our home…she asked me on sat when i was going off 2 watch a movie…she said baji aap “bull” nai banatey…i was like err what? she goes no you are wearnig such a lite lipcolor (i was wearing a gloss) and she meant i hadnt even use the lip pencil for outline…lol i was like hmm OKIE…i said oh i dont like it…she goes well my khala and all these people wear it like that u shud try it sometime…i was like okkk next time remind me and i wl wear it for u :o

Re: Maids...

I miss my maids in pakistan. I perfected my soup making skill with my maid during the 3 month summer holidays after matric exams. I used to be the only one home so i'd make soup then we'd taste and she'd give me tips on what needs to be improved. Oh and she always had a fight with the kachra wala...it was funny.

Re: Maids...

lol my maid is very frank with me! i can so relate to whatever you have written! hehe

from what i have heard and seen maids are pretty much treatedlike dirt in paksitan. i understand now why so many paksitanis are so defensive of this rich poor divide. and why they are so obsessed with this bare lgo chote log concept which in my khayal is just ridiculous.

anyways. i saw a 15 year old maid get hammered with a knee kick and isaw the girl whimpering and trying her best to hold back the tears. she got nailed right int he back while she was washign dishes and i walked int hat time by accident. it was quite disturbing to witness and even more hard to digest this reality of paksitan.

but on the other hand this same maid is really nosy adn i noticed when you start being talkative and super sweet to the maid girl then after that if one time you scold her for getting too involed in stuff that does not concern her she gets angry, makes a face and runs off. so i guess they do have to keep them in control. reprimanding harshly i can understand. laiken knee jerking a bejaan twig of a girl i cannot understand.

and you know what that maid girl said about them. i asked her if she missed her family since she s been living in that family'S house for a couploe of years adn she was liek why would i. and i was like well because this is not your real lfamily.a nd she looks at me shocked and goes no they ARE my real family.

honeslty that time i felt like crying becasue you should see what they give this girl to eat. DEHI and OLD sookiwi ROTI and then she SITS ont he FLOOR. i was like why are you sitting onthe floor sit ont he table with me but she would not budge. poor girl i donnot blame her shse probably thoguht that if i do one of those big fat ladies might knee me again. and i told her to eat soem reall salan why are you just eating youguhrt and she was like no i want ot eat yogouhrt. even when she is alone she never complains.

next time i go i have to make myself stronger. seriously. :(

ofcourse beating is wrong no matter u do it to main, yr kid or whoever. U shud have addressed this to your aunt or whoever it was....thats really disgusting. if u r really annoyed by someone that much its better u get rid of them instead of beating them. thats horrible.

Re: Maids...

the author of the post is so rite!! its like mere dil ki awaz... just coz of maid me n my mum get in to argument and what i do is before saying ne fin to maid i look around if no ones around i say it all and wht we end with is im working like idiot all day long!!! this is so bad in the last 3 months we hired like 5-6 maids n like always m the one whos workin whole day :( for a week now

Re: Maids…

:hehe:
I can so relate…
Well, I am quite happy with my safaie wali maid. She doesnt have attitude problem or anything.. But the only thing is she skips work quite often
One thing is I can never be harsh with my maids, I always ask them if its lunch time if they want to eat roti, I make one for them as well.
That’s true that we get scared if we talk with higher tone they might leave work and we’ll be on our own :frowning: lekin anyway, one has to be nice with them. No body likes to wash other’s bathrooms, they have majbooris, that they are doing this work

Re: Maids...

If I lived in pakistan I would never take a maid instead do the work myself! Its sad that we let little girls do our work, why dont you do it yourself and then u will not have to deal with their moods and ofcourse will not be dependant on them.

Maids! wow I wished there were maids in USA. I think I would tolerate their tantrums!

Here we have to do EVERYTHING on our own! Truly sucks :(

thats easier said that done...and its not limited to pakistan only..dont u guys have day care centres/baby sitters abroad? some even have house helps really depends on if u can afford them or not since they r quite expensive there and rightly so. Having said that, i still do think one should not get dependent on anyone BUT still a little help here and there doesnt harm. And child labour is a strict NO NO!!!.

Re: Maids...

^ it is very expensive to hire a maid and have your kids being looked after at a daycare...

Unless you have a very secure and highly paid job/business - it's not possible. No one in their average income homes can afford a maid and daycare at the same time.

Here you can have maids but only once a week they are expensive in USA :( I know we have to do everything.

Re: Maids...

**Ladies ,
One thing I want to add never EVER stop talking to them in womanly fashion.
I mean they way women talk to each other about issues.
This not for you but for you maids.
REASON
I am saying is maids are less likely to get abused by their hubbies compare to other woman from same economic class.

Reason is you. You/your family off course is in the position to set her husband straight if he abuses her.

Little social work with out much effort!!!**

so you hire once a week? How much does it cost? and how many hours? What are their responsibilities if it's just for one day?

I mean, for me one day would just be for dusting off every corner of your home...

but what about the everyday stuff starting from:
1) picking/folding up you sheets
2) making up you bed
3) Preparing breakfast
4) Preparing lunch for kids and hubby to take for school and job
5) Morning dishes
6) Vacumming
7) Mopping
8) Sweeping
9) Clean up bathroom after everyone's done with shower

These are just early morning chores - WHILE you are GETTING READY to GO TO work !

I LOVE to have a clean home to COME BACK to - it relaxes me at the end of the day... but cleaning all of this everyday is simply becoming a maid machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So unfair is life over here.

Re: Maids...

So basically you expect maids to be dumb slaves and know their places.

Ever thought, how you would act if you had to work as a maid?

Re: Maids...

^zxyz my responsibilities listed above are that of a maid... so I am an unofficial maid - because I don't get paid for it - hahahahhhhh

huh? who said that!!!

Re: Maids...

I have seen that people coming from Pakistan treat their maids very sternly. Specially the way they speak to them as if they are not humans.

Plz treat your maids nicely.

Re: Maids...

i dont understant how a person cant do some of their own basic chores, yeah it would be nice to have a maid to do big things, but i think you shouldnt become dependent on maids.
btw be nice to them they dont have a choice but to be a maid. :)

Re: Maids…

People in Pakistan are spoiled. :snooty:

…and what Icono said.
