Interesting article from India defence journal, another interesting thing is that Punjab (under the unionists) did not want to join Pakistan. They wanted to become a dominion within British India but they lost relevance between 1944 to 1946, that means Punjab was the last to enter the band wagon.

Does that mean Muslim League was not successful in Punjab until 1946, when it compromised with the feudal lords to win support.
