BOKARO: If you want to save yourself from dengue, it’s better to worship them and seek their blessings rather than depending on the administration for taking precautionary measures.
This is not something from a fairytale story, but what the members of Centre for Consumer Club in neighbouring Chas town believe. The town witnessed a unique ritual with residents performing “machchhar (mosquito) puja” in a busy market area here on Sunday. Two hundred residents, including women, participated in the programme.

[You can watch the video on facebook]*
The “machchhar puja” was performed in a traditional way with chief guest Rajender Mahto, the leader of local outfit Jan Sangharsh Morcha and other members praying before a mosquito model placed on a table burning incense sticks, breaking coconut and distributing prasad. They also raised slogans, “ek machhar aadmi ko hijara bana deta hai. Dengue se bachanna hai to machchhar ki puja kare (Mosquito makes a man eunuch. If you want to protect yourself from dengue, worship mosquito).”
I don’t understand If ‘protesting’ by this way really worked out, will they remain going to do puja for ‘Machchhar’. Why don’t Govt do something. It is like mocking with a religion/belief.
Whats wrong in believing in this blood-sucking macchar? He has provided livilihood to crores of ppls who are engaged in trade of multi=crore doller mosquito repellents?
Lethal -! No offense. Some may believe in Allah some in Jesus some in Narayanan and some in other vehicles. If one of those vehicles is Machar, so be it. Who are we to judge?

Any source from any scripture?

To me all these vehicles are equivalent.
This is not about believing. This is seems to mocking with one religion/belief. Those pplz (in image at post#1) already believe/follow a religion. Than doing puja of machchhar is like compairing or giving equal rights to what they already worship in their religion and that is wrong (as far I think).

I don't think those people are trying to mock anyone. Beyond that, I have nothing to offer, since I am as far from being a scholar on this topic as one can imagine.
I didn't realize it was a video. No I didn't see it. What I am trying to say is this - it may appear to others that they are making a mockery of their religion. I feel they are doing what they think is right - to placate the machhar.
Religion can be insanity. That is why it is all about faith. I make it a point to draw the line at such labels when it comes to anyones religious prsctices. I use insanity only wrt those who impose their religious laws on society at large. Nothing is more insane and dangerous.
I don't worry about if someone worships machar Shiva or Allah.
