Mac Questions

I finally got myself a 24inch iMac.

Now can anyone tell me is there a way i can open exe installations in mac? umm like play windows games on mac? ?

also is there any place i can get free software for mac??

does anyone know how much final cut pro is? i want to get it

Re: Mac Questions

you need crossover mac to run windows applications, check it's compatibility list 1st before buying. Final cut is available from Mac shop. It's cheap, not more than £200 for upg from an older version.

Re: Mac Questions

crossover mac meaning? if my mac has bootcamp will it work?? how do i know the mac i have is a crossover mac??

Re: Mac Questions

it's a SOFTWARE called "crossover mac". I think there are other application too , which can emulate MS environment to run windows applications on your iMac.

Re: Mac Questions

and you bought a 24 iMac for playing Windows games… :smack:

Re: Mac Questions

Option One:

use parallels ( if u need fast access to run exes but not for heavy tasks )

Mac Virtual Machines and Virtual PC. Automation and Virtualization Software for Desktops, Servers, Hosting, SaaS - Parallels

Option two:

Boot Camp (recommended if u want performance e.g play games / 3d)

Re: Mac Questions

Well not really. I got an iMac for other reasons too.

Re: Mac Questions

Sinner so I have Boot Camp. Now I need a copy of Windows so I can install it on my iMac?

It means if u use Crossever/Parallels Flexible ]
- u dont need to boot to switch b/w OS
- u will run Windows & OS X side by side (integrated)

& if u use Bootcamp Fast ]
- It will b just like using any PC
- it will require separate partition

yeap ...in both cases you need windows copy Legal or illegal ]

legal is better

Re: Mac Questions

Is their any harm in using bootcamp? Can I switch between OS X and Vista? My files will not be lost if I partition it right?

 so how do you feel about running MS operating system on APPLE hardware? :hehe:

Re: Mac Questions

therez nothing harm in BootCamp … here are some links go thru em …

1 Apple - Mac OS X - Windows Compatibility - How Mac works with PCs (check the video)

2 Apple - Support - Bootcamp

3 Mac 101: Using Windows via Boot Camp with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

as u hav mentioned u just bought it … so i dont think so u hav much data on it .. if u r worried about softwares … i think u get them with mac on a Cd/Dvd …

PS: do check out videos on apple.com… & use ilife’s iphoto “face recognition” feature i love it (on my Hackint0sh)

hmmm bad …

But im running OS X [Hackint0sh] on PC hardware … :stuck_out_tongue: Wat u think about dat?

Nifty :D As on PC you have a wide range of hardware, where as on apple you are limited to what you get in MAC. It's the operating system which gives MAC it's edge.

Re: Mac Questions

iPhoto face recognition? really? where is this?

Re: Mac Questions

Xenophanez ] yeah os X is amazing but the people behind think about single possible thing … after using mac … I move my windows vista taskbar on top of screen … cuz less movement of hands … tabs & most of functions r on the top…

Aisha ] i strongly recommend u to watch videos on Apple - Find Out How - Mac Basics almost hundred vidz ]

& for face recognition Apple - Find Out How - iPhoto - iPhoto ?09

----- Edit ----

I recommend not to install windows on iMac ( reason it will allow windows viruses /malware to effect ur mac ) keep separate PC for windows

As i seen u r a photographer … I also recommend u to check " aperture " .. http://www.apple.com/findouthow/photos/aperture.html#tutorial=enhance

Re: Mac Questions

Oh I saw aperture in virgin megastore, I am going to buy that soon right now using open source Inkscape. Ok then that's a good idea I wouldnt want viruses to affect my new MAC. thanks for the links will check them out.
