217 brush is a great investment
168 is great for blush and it's multipurpose so it can be used for blush/bronzer/highlighter
Patina eyeshadow is my favorite ever
266/263 brush... I have two of these. One I use only for fluidline and the other for powders. I often line my lower lashline with powder shadow. I also use it if I want to fill in my brows.
Mac Select Sheer Pressed Powder.
I love Mac Eyeshadows but the staples I would recommend (such as highlighting colours) have similar versions in the Urban Decay Naked Palette. I got this late as I had a lot of similar colours in MAC but I love it. It's great value for money too.
But Mac satin taupe is a great eyeshadow that suits pretty much any skin tone.
For bringing warmth to the skin and contouring, Mac mineralised skin finish naturals in a darker (bronze-y) shade.
I hate MAC foundations but love their Studio Finish Concealer for blemishes.
Here is my list:
- Studio Finish Concealer (get an NC shade for blemishes)
- Mineralized Skinfinish Natural, it gives a skin-like finish and is amazing to set foundation with
- Blacktrack Fluidline
- Painterly Paint Pot (Soft Ocre if you're NC30-35 or darker)
- For brushes, I really love 239, 217, 224 (a MUST for blending), 219, 109 (a perfect multi-purpose brush. I use it for powder, highlighting, conturing, and blush).
i love club eyeshadow, rubenesque paint pot looks really nice just worn on its own. woodwinked eyeshadow. up the amp lipstick is gorjus!! and amplified!
I'm mainly a MAC lipstick person. dont really tend to use much else from their range. Although my SIL is a MUA and she loves MAC make up. Lemme ask her what's good actually....
Mac brave and mocha lippies ARE AMAZING. especially on desi skin tones.
Mac studio fix foundation is a must if you you want the ultimate, cover anything stay in place foundation that has a matte finish.
For eyeshadows, check out carbon, honey lust and expensive pink
Have fun!!!

I love expensive pink, it's gorgeous and goes well with desi skin tones. I also recently bought coppering and star violet, which are also pretty shades.
For eyeshadows my favorite are: Club (perfect 1-shadow smokey color. It's duo-chrome and looks green, brown or red depending on the lighting. My first MAC shadow), Patina, Ricepaper (my favorite highlighter. It's not frosty nor too yellow or too pink), Brule (my favorite my-lid-but-better shadow. It's amazing for blending out harsh lines, or for brightening your eye before liner or when you plan on just wearing nothing but mascara), Satin Taupe and Woodwinked.
I love MAC brushes, i dont remember the nos but i bought a set of 5 a few years ago and they are still in excellent condition. they came in a pouch with shorter handles.
I also have a bunch of their eyeshadows (traaxx, expensive pink, mulch, amber lights, star violet etc to name a few) but i really think urban decay palettes are much better value for the money and similiar quality.
I do like the vanilla pigment though. i use it as a brow highlighter but will try it with foundation too. sounds interesting.
I also cannot be without their blotting powder. Love it and repurchase all the time.
In terms of foundation i switched from MAC to estee lauder and like the results/color much better.
FLuidline eyeliner in blacktrack: Its great for special occasions but i cant use it everyday and clean my brush after every use etc. For every day use i have a cheaper drug store brand which is not great but easy to apply and take off.
Does the type of brush you use really make that much of a difference.....for examle do you guys notice a difference in the applicatio of your eyeshadow with a MAC brush as opposed to the brush of a lesser known brand..or a grocery store one?
^I used to wonder the same, then I got my first MAC eyeshadow brush (#224) a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to see if it lives up to the hype...and I have to admit, it does. It makes the application process very easy and helps create a perfect gradient in the crease without much effort.
MAC eye khol in Smoulder! i absoloutley love it, their brushes are worth the investment! although i notice a difference in the "holiday" gift sets they release the smaller brushes compared to their standard ones
