Mac make up

So I think I read here once that a girl had her make up down from a mac counter for her mehindi or something like that. Does anyone have information on that. How much do they charge etc?

Re: Mac make up

You have to buy their products worth $40 (or maybe it's $50 in some places).

it is freee..you call them, and say u wanna make an appointment to get a makeover and try on their makeup........then u take the dress with u and they do it accordingly...and at end u just buy any products u like...i recently got it done and just bought eyelashes wich i told her to put on me for the function

Re: Mac make up

A friend of mine got it done for her engagement. She basically booked an appointment with one of the artists and I think she purchased some of the products. The eye-makeup was pretty good but the rest of the makeup was ... well really really bad. She's beautiful, very defined features and beautiful skin too but she's wheatish. Not exactly like kareena kapoor and the foundation was all wrong. It seemed like it was ok when I saw her in person at the occassion, but it all looked soo bad in photos. Kinda shiny and greyish :S

Re: Mac make up

Get a trial done.

My sister got a trial done before her wedding to see if we could use them: It was AWFUL. I mean, I LOVE Mac, but they have no idea how to do "Desi" style makeup. They made her look like an absolute clown.

I'd suggest looking for someone who specializes in Desi wedding makeup. We had to pay for someone 3 hours away, but it was worth it. She at least knew what we wanted.

Re: Mac make up

Are you in the UK?
You can book a makeover which costs £20 or a makeup lesson which costs £40, both amounts are redeemable against products.

I would only recommend you use either of the above if you want to try and buy products and not for an official event.

Re: Mac make up

My make up artist is unavialable, and I need to have my make up done this weekend, its short notice... :/

Re: Mac make up

Well then, how good are you at doing your own foundation base? If you think you're good enough then at least do your face foundation yourself and ask them to do your makeup. What is your dress like? Is it a desi outfit? Colors? If you're not sure with the bright colors on your face, just stick with something safe, like ask her to do a gold / brown/ pink kinda eye shading on you. I hate how these MAC artists do the eyemakeup on all these walkins at the mall. The desi style is to do your lid, and darken around the outer edge and upper crease. and highlight the brow bone. How these MAC gora/ black (pardon the racist reference) do it is to highlight all around the lid (even to the inside corner of your eyes). Makes u look like a freak show!! But that's my call..

desi,
i had my engagement makeup done by mac. if you have a mac store in a mall, that would be more preferable over a mac counter at a department store. i had to pay $50 for my trial and $50 for the actual day. the only thing i had to purchase was my false lashes. they did not have me pay for any of their makeup products. for my trial, i made sure to bring my outfit and magazine pics with desi makeup. because desi makeup puts emphasis on eye makeup, make sure to have an idea of what colors to use on your eyes before you go in. a lot of times, mac artists like to put bright, funky colors on lids because thats what they think is "desi", but sometimes they end up making you look like a clown. make sure to specify not only colors, but that you need emphasis on eyes (whether its smokey/specific colors/false lashes). for foundation, make sure they specifically use a color that is and EXACT match or not more than a shade lighter. also, ask them if they can use a highlighter to make ur face glow. it shows up pretty nice on pictures.

Re: Mac make up

I dont want to do my make up myself for my engagement. My dress is pink with blue kaam.

Re: Mac make up

I posted my engagement outfit in another post in the wedding section...

Re: Mac make up

Do a lot of brides put mehindi on their hands and feet for the engagement party?

oh is this availble in the UK too??

where? MAC is really only in Selfridges right? So what do i do?

Re: Mac make up

I dont know about mehndi or anything but I went to MAC to get makeup done for my international night and they said that they will do it. They did and the results were excellent and the lady took 200 dirhams from me. That is 40 quid and about 55 dollars.

Re: Mac make up

MAC is all over the place, in London, you've got Selfridges, Fenwicks in Brent Cross.
The stand alone stores are in Westfield, Coven Garden, Kings Road in Chelsea, Foubert St which is behind Liberty on Oxford St.

If you go to MACcosmetics.co.uk and do a search you'll see a list of all the stockists.

Re: Mac make up

wrt mehndi, it's up to you.
I personally wouldn't, but that's me liking things simple.

It could also be that since you were in the UAE, the MUA possibly had some idea on how to do desi makeup..

Totally forget Fenwicks! Thanks Aliya! So helpful!

Very few MAC mua's know how to do "desi" makeup.. they're great for photoshoots and fashion/runway though.
