Mabrook?

why does ‘mubarak’ turns to ‘mabrook’ as soon as someone lands in the middle-east?

Re: Mabrook?

jaisa des waisa bhais?

Re: Mabrook?

Cos we like to fit in like that

Re: Mabrook?

Shu mushkila?

Re: Mabrook?

^ aHo

its okay if u say mabrook to fellow wannabe-arabs, but saying this to a pakka desi like me doesn't make much sense.

Re: Mabrook?

^ that's wot u think !!

Its just using a term which is of the land. That's it. You don't have to read too much into it !!

Re: Mabrook?

When in Rome do as the Romans do.

Re: Mabrook?

Do u do as the pathans do??? :hehe:

Re: Mabrook?

not reading anything into it. just wondering why my friends who used to say 'mubarak' start writing 'mabrook' after they move to middle east and why my friends moving to France don't start writing 'felicitations' to me.

Re: Mabrook?

Cos Mabrook is still keeping with the tone of 'mubarak'. Plus, who likes the French anyway?

Re: Mabrook?

Oddly enough yes. No not that you pervert :stuck_out_tongue: But I do eat off the same plate as 20 other people who don’t wash their hands when they eat and I have prayed in every room of the office, guesthouse and on the street

Because Kaka Mubarak and felicitations mean two different things. They are not synonyms.

Re: Mabrook?

^those are minor ‘adjustments’…

not that?? thats some resilience :hehe:

Re: Mabrook?

Hell no not that! That is just creepy and well creepy :D

Re: Mabrook?

and u have no issues when one says congratulations?

Re: Mabrook?

well said

Re: Mabrook?

Exactly, I don't get what the big deal is? Hell even I use some "arabified" words even though I live in Canada because I am surrounded by alot of arabs. I just picked those words up from my friends.

Re: Mabrook?

Its easier than mubarak ho or aap ko mubarak ho etc. Its just like one of those words that as good as an elaborate sentence, like "sorry", instead of ma'azarat chahta hooN

Re: Mabrook?

LOL! Do you go around calling people 'habibi'?

Re: Mabrook?

lol, hey I totally should but no I don’t. I meant more like wudu, salah, hijab etc. I really like the word fasoosi…not even sure what it means exactly :konfused:

Re: Mabrook?

standing ovation EXACTLY
