Lunch At Work

I’ve been having these amazing lunches from the small restaurant that’s opened up in our office building and thought it might be nice to share what we all eat for lunch when we are at work…

So yesterday I had:

  • roasted chicken leg served on a bed of hand made cheese ravioli with a touch of tomatoe and basil sauce

Today I’m having:

  • grilled chicken breast stuffed with wild rice and pine nuts served on a giant portabello mushroom cap with a side of blanched veggies
  • chef’s secret hot sauce on the side :faizy:

Lunch At Work

What lovely lunches!
I have boring sandwiches for lunch :frowning:

What’s the name of this restaurant? Is it in dt TO?

Re: Lunch At Work

that sounds amaaaaaaaaaazing! i’ve been having different types of homemade salads every day and am getting tired of them :(.

Re: Lunch At Work

no…I’m not in dt Toronto anymore…thankfully!
If I was having this sort of entree for lunch dt I’d be bankrupt.
This is in Mississauga.
And the very best part is that the guy uses ONLY certified halal meat!!!

Re: Lunch At Work

You’re lucky.

I’m lucky if I get lunch at all :frowning:

Usually its a lil yoghurt with musli

Re: Lunch At Work

How nice, now that’s a lunch I am talking about! healthy and fresh, and the best part you don’t have to drive our anywhere  I haven’t had ravioli in a while, getting hungry just thinking about it Mmmmm

Re: Lunch At Work

soch ti hoon–

a couple of times, I’ve brought cans of soup from home and heat em up in the office

had subway sandwiches a couple of times, cz it’s closeby.

yesterday I had pasta in garlic sauce from a pizzeria, OMG it was swimming in oil. :frowning:

My office is in a very trendy nieghborhood with lots of little cafes (which means = expensive as heck). the train station (where there’s lots of restuarants and stuff) r about a 10-15 minute walk away and there’s lots of stuff in that area…I always want to go during lunch, but even though I get an hour, I don’t like taking that much time off (plus I dont’ feel like walking that much in the middle of the day)…maybe when the weather is better…

I had biryani one day. I’d love to bring desi food (biryani/pulao/daal chawal) more often but it’s a small office and I’m afraid of offending any of the coworkers.

Re: Lunch At Work

Hey Muzna,

That sounds yum! I work in downtown Toronto but my parents live in Mississauga so I go there often. What’s the name of this restaurant and where is it located? Maybe I’ll check it out on a weekend. Thanks!

Re: Lunch At Work

Yes yes I wanna check it out too!

Re: Lunch At Work

Do you mean offending with the smell of desi food? When I was working my english colleagues used to sit around me at the table to see what I had packed for lunch…was kinda uneasy for a few days then I was like ‘heck we all frigging eat’ and used to munch away.

Re: Lunch At Work

^ lol i have chaptay who bring stuff that smells WAY worse than desi food

That sounds delish! We live in the burbs of Chicago…one of the burbs with the least zabiha halal options lol. All the good stuff is in the city :frowning:

Re: Lunch At Work

i usually take shami kabab or grilled chicken sandwiches with juice and salad…sometimes fries too…
never thought we have so many yummy options

Re: Lunch At Work

Taytos and coffee… that’s my lunch these days. :naak:

Re: Lunch At Work

I usually take left over dinner from home; biryani, pasta, pulao with chutni etc. Everyone’s used my biryani smell and even if they weren’t I doubt I would give a damn.

Re: Lunch At Work

you r such a racist.

Re: Lunch At Work

I buy a week’s worth of lunch and dinner from desi restaurants now a days. Desi restaurant food smells delicious to all the goras and gories around me so I eat my lunch at my desk. I also make sure that I bring only that food for lunch which smells yummy and there is no dearth of such desi food.

Re: Lunch At Work

I’m not sure that it is open on the weekends…it’s in an office building. If it is open on the weekend I doubt that they will do anything special…probably just the regular wraps and sandwiches…cuz there are no office people in on the weekends.

I’ll check and let you know.

Re: Lunch At Work

Today’s lunch…

Khatti daal and chawal…with some boti kabab on the side.
