Most North Indian Hindus would eat non veg, but in South India more are vegetarians.
Another thing, which seems to be misundertood in Pakistan, is that all dark people are Dalits and looked down. This is not the case, infact South Indians are generally well educated and respected. Most of India's current progress is Southern based.
The army still has a large proportion from Punjab - but that too is being rectified. Recently, there is a push to increase the Muslim representation.
