BTw let me say this, though it is redundent .....most indians are "not" veggies... indians regardless of religion dont eat beef and pork generally.
Cows being "sacred" and pigs being food of poor people.
I for one eat everything which walks or flies... nothing that swims though (holy fish ;) )(i know i am sucker for a resident of louisiana) i hate seafood...

yes pig is food for poor who can't go for chicken or Lamb
once i saw a man running to catch a pig in my neighbourhood, the pig was shouting loud, so i asked that man what are you doing, he said i have relatives in my home :D
As far as I know, Pigs are non existant in Pakistan except for the wild boar variety...
So the only comfort for pigs is they could never get a Pakistani vesa no matter how much they try...
Gai on the other hand, have only their price tag to save their necks...
Goats and chicken unfortunately bare the brunt of the assault everywhere... Particulalrly the chicken...
Poor poor chicken...:(
60% of Indians eat meat. In some southern and coastal regions, it is close to 98%.
I would say 95% of Sikhs eat meat.
Pork is eaten but it is not common among the urban people.
There is even a huge underground market for beef.
Also, buffalo meat is eaten by a lot of poor village bodybuilders, especially in Punjab.
This nihari place in karachi, i forgot its name, was making nihari out of donkey meat and people loved the taste. Many years later it was found out its donkey meat and the owner was dealt with then.
But even Pakistanis use the word “paki”, does that mean that they are insulting themselves? Some1 was using the first meaning of the word and not the derogatory second one.

I know they do; they are ignorant pricks who've grown up in the west and don't know a damn thing about their heritage or culture.
Offtopic, but there truly is lots of ignorance created between the regions.
Growing up in Karachi, i am proud of my diverse cultural upbringing, i have come to know about Christians, Hindus, Parsis etc etc. Also that karachi has a very diverse ethnic palette ranging from muhajir sindhi punjabi balochi memon makrani gujrati bihari bohri and the list goes on.
Despite all this, i never knew that sikhs are different than hindus. My first time in New York back in 1995 i was filling up at a gas station. When i paid the sikh owner just to be polite i said “Jai ram ji ki” to him as i walked out. He did give me a wierd stare which i thought was pretty rude. When i got back in the car and i told my friend what just happened he started crackin up. It was then i found out that theyre two different religions :halo:
Another example is if you ask most people in Lahore what a makrani is they would have no idea. If people in Pakistan dont properly know all the people of their own country, im sure they could be excused for not knowing much about people of another country.

it was Javed nehari place in F.B Area and they dont use donkey meat , it was like a reporter saw a dead donkey outside that outlet annd made it up all the sky !
Most North Indian Hindus would eat non veg, but in South India more are vegetarians.
Another thing, which seems to be misundertood in Pakistan, is that all dark people are Dalits and looked down. This is not the case, infact South Indians are generally well educated and respected. Most of India's current progress is Southern based.
The army still has a large proportion from Punjab - but that too is being rectified. Recently, there is a push to increase the Muslim representation.
But sikhism does preach vegetarianism doesnt it? Woh aur baat haiy kay the word *sikh *is now synonymous with chicken and beer :D
Sikhi does not preach vegetarianism.
One of the Sikh Guru's (prophets) was once eating meat and his ex-Hindu disciple walked in on him and was horrified and enquired from the Guru if it's permissible to eat meat, to which the Guru replied something to the effect of "who knows if it's a sin to eat meat or a sin to to eat vegetables?" or something along those lines...
Some Sikh sects/indivuduals might refarain from eating meat but that has no scriptual basis, it is Hindu influence on their religion, I don't think any Sikh will believe they are better than their Gurus so most eat meat like their Gurus.
Recently some extremist Hindus have tried to assimilate Sikhism within their own religion by worshipping Sikh Gurus as avatars (incarnations) of Hindu gods and have made images of the Gurus on sacred cows, which is something a lot of Sikhs don't like so to counter this attack on their identity a lot of Sikhs have proposed serving beef at the Guruduwara's Langar (Prasad, Eucharist)...
You are right about the beer though, although Sikhs are known for their drinking the Sikh religion forbids all types of intoxicants whether it's alcohol or bhang (cannabis-juice).
