Love Until Madness ? Did It Happen To You?

“Pay attention that you do not love too much. It’s never good to love someone too much”.

Never love too much.
It absolutely didn’t make sense to me. To love someone was, for me, the ultimate altruistic gift you could possibly give. I desperately wanted to do that, to love someone until madness. It was my personal goal.

A few years later I would find out the meaning of this sentence, and what it meant to me, in the most painful way.

After that devastating breakup I experienced, I suddenly realized why it is bad to have loved TOO MUCH, and it made perfect sense to me.

It’s bad because I lost myself completely. I lived through the other person, defined my happiness by the other person, and connected all my future and past to her.

That is loving TOO MUCH.

Every time you find yourself disconnected from the person you really are because of the relationship, then you are loving too much and it WILL lead into disaster.
Of course I do NOT mean that you shouldn’t give all the love you have, you definitely shouldn’t hold anything back, but don’t lose the person you are over it.

This is MY personal truth and interpretation of that mysterious phrase I heard so many years ago.

Do you think that it’s possible to love too much, until madness?

I thought this was an interesting article. What do you all think?

Yeah..there is such a thing as loving too much...I have experienced it...it is just crazy...when ur life just rotates around one person. It is true, u do lose urself..coz u jst wnt to make that person happy no matter what the cost is..and then after a while you don't even know what YOU want, what makes YOU happy.

All I can say is it is very dangerous to love like that..coz u can destroy urself...and it takes a looooooooong time to put ur life back together.

Maybe you should love like crazy...but you should not let the other person know how much you love them, not till that person has shown you that they deserve your love.

I think after a "Crazy love", u do love again, but it is different...it is still love..but it is not a turbulent love, it is more calm...and it brings peace into your life and you slowly learn what love should really be like.

yes it happens and iam one of its victom too...:) but it is not in one's hand...:(u cant controll ur self....
so its no use of saying dont love too much coz its not in ur hands.......!it may leads to very bad situations some times .but stilllll it cant be stoped .

I think loving someone to madness ends up in one getting over possessive in love .. which can lead to a difficult and painful end.

i think loving someone and therefore investing most of your happiness in that relationship is one thing. only doing things and taking steps in your life because of the other person is quite another.

like the person who only tries to change their life or do something with it when they are in a relationship. it can be motivational for some but for others it's just shallow. when the relationship ends they give up everything they were trying to do or aiming for because it wasn't really for themselves. sad really.

Too much love? Yes it's possible and it sucks. If the other person loves you equally then it's perfect, if not, find someone else, he/she isnt worth your time.

lol - I think loving someone TOO MUCH - happens on it's own - BUT - I think it happens out of SELFISHNESS - Freaking you only care about that person FOR your own self, FOR your own happiness, FOR your own companionship. No one love the other TOO MUCH just for the sake of loving that person out of no where. It's ALL ABOUT me me me.......

i don't kno about too much love ... the stuff you guys are describing is more like obsession than love and it chokes the other person as well ... but i guess the definition of love is very relative and might differ for me than for anyone else in this forum ... for me love means when you really like everything about a person and anything else that is associated with him ... you like the things he/she does, the qualities in him/her and accept the faults and not try to change or impose youself on them and love is just limited there u love their family and frnds as well because u kno it is connected to them and brings them happiness ... for me wat differentiates this from obsession that in my opinion is described above is that when you are so much into that person u want their time and u want their world to revolve around u just as much as you are revolving around them and u try to fit htem in the mould of someone you like ... and i think thats not really love it just turns into some sort of obsession

Just because they dont love you as much as you love them.. doesn't mean they dont love you with all they've got

I believe... tho ive not experienced it... I think few people are capable of such love and those who find it should cherish it... even IF they find it slightly suffocating
