There are many love stories mentioned in the Quran and Other Love stories from different sources in Islam.
I was listening to a few tapes and it came to mind to gather all of them..
These are the ones that i know of, and if you guys know any plz share.
(and btw, Love here is pure love, for the sake of Allah)..
Sulaiman and Bilqis
Sulaiman was a Prophet, a king. The wind, jinns and animals were under his kingdom.. He could understand the languages of animals and communicate with them.
Bilqis was the Queen of Saba.
Their story is mentioned in the Quran.
Yusef And Zulaikha
Yusef was a Prophet. His story is the most beautiful story as Allah says in the quran 12:3 ‘We do relate unto thee the most beautiful of stories, in that We reveal to thee this (portion of the) Qur’an: before this, thou too was among those who knew it not.’
Zulaikha was the wife of the Egptian ruler, who Prophet Yusuf worked for.

Sher what do you want to know?

I mean, how can soneone love someone for the sake of God? isn't it natural to fall in love without even noticing the changes inside you and only find out later that you are in love with someone. I don't think you would plan before you fall in love. Come on, be honest. you would not care about God when you fall in Love. How can one love someone for the sake of God..............?
I read their story in a book from the library when I was 10, “Stories of the Prophets of Islam.”
I think Zulaikha was a Mushriqah (Polythiest), her husband was once gone out on some important busniess, and she was home alone with Yusuf :as: who was a very handsome man and she wanted to seduce him badly, so she asked him and he turned down the offer saying that he cannot do that especially when her husband has been so kind to him, she said to him no one will know and pulled a curtain infront of the idol she use to worship so that it doesn’t see her doing it, and Yusuf :as: told her your god may not see beyond curtains but my God is the All-Seeing the All-Knowing, or something to that effect, he tried getting away from her and she grabbed him by his shirt at the back ripping it whilst he was trying to get away, just then her husband walked in and she told him that Yusuf :as: was the one who wanted to… her but it was obvious from the shirt being ripped at the back that it was her and he was trying to get away.
Yusuf :as: was asked by her husband not to tell anyone to save the family honour and he agreed but despite this the story reached the loacl women who would gossip about her so she invited them for lunch and gave them fruits and knives to cut them with and called Yusuf :as: in, when the women saw how handsome he was they were awe struck and cut their hands without realsing it, after that they never gossiped about her again..
I don’t think Yusuf :as: had any part to play in this and it sounds more like lust on her part than love, unless she Submitted later and they married, in which case may Allah forgive me.
Sher, that person loves God, and you love God too.
So you love the person for the sake of God.. for the sake of His Love which both people have for Him..
Thanks for sharing the one about Muhammad :saw: and Khadija and Ali and Faatimah , Muslims should take thjese great personalities as their role models, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon them.
I haven’t heard of the other stories about Moses :as: and Solomon :as:, could you tell us more/
Well, I can undertand where you are coming from Sher. I totally believe that love is blind, no mater how far fetched or rated this statement might sound. But surely you can love a person solely for the sake of Allah. Imagine a man who marries a widow just to help her out. Not everyone goes for physical attributes or falls in love before getting married.
But even if you can't plan to fall in love and it just happens, you can always restrain yourself if you know that the person belongs to another religion or another sect. I think any such decision that a person makes obviously is based on religious grounds and that means, it is done for the sake of Allah. There can be many reasons but I can only think of these two right now.

Mystical, Do you mean to say the Atheists don't have feelings and they don't fall in love. A good friend of mine, who does not believe in God at all and yet loves this guy she met at a party. She is from South Asian family and her parents are very Muslims and they reacted very angrily. BUT she left home with the guy and now they live together and probably will marry soon. I have met the guy and found the guy is a nice bloke. The guy is spanish BTW,,,, So, Their love has got nothing to do with love of God.

Their marriage, Islamically, is invalid, but I doubt the girl cares.

You are right She doesn't care. BUT the point is they love each other and that proves that Mystical_miss has to re-consider her statement. I am sure deep inside she know that Love doesn't care about God and it just happens. If you are affraid of God Well,, you have problem then..
The only justifiable and right love is the love for Allah. Falling in love with a girl you saw somewhere is the mere indication that you "love" her for her looks, pyshical attributes, charms etc etc. It would be more lust than love. And Isn't eyeing women regarded as a sin is Islam?!
If you are in the mood to love someone. Love Allah and his Prophet!
How is love supposed to happen in Islam
A muslim woman is supposed to cover herself up when she is not in the company of her immediate relatives. You mean to say that love happens through the burkha or does love happen among immediate relatives. I think the latter is more probable !!!

How can you love Nothingness? And how can one NOT love the opposite sex? It is natural and can not be denied. I don't see God interfering in Human life anyway and I am sure HE doesn't need your Love, I mean if HE exists.
