Lost Voice

How do I bring it back? My grandad made me take these stupid antibiotics (sp) and they havnt helped. I can’t get a doctors appointment till next week. Any home remedies?

The day before yesterday it was croaky, yesterday I could barely squeak, and today it has completely disappeared. I hate not being able to talk. :frowning:

Re: Lost Voice

mints, gurgles with hot water with salt.

Re: Lost Voice

^ hot water? luke warm water ...neem garam neem garam... ullu

Re: Lost Voice

The cure is a laptop with a text-to-speech programme installed on it.

The only problem is that you'll end up sounding like professor Stephen Hawkins...

Re: Lost Voice

naah neem garam pani say kuch nahien hota. if its hot ( not enough to burn u ofcourse), it also relaxes the throat and it works better than neem garam pani.

Re: Lost Voice

By hot water you mean boiling hot? Or just luke warm?

Maddy, serioulsy I already sound like him, well actually that was yesterday that I sounded like a man...today I can't even tell me brother to piss off without him laughing in my face.

Re: Lost Voice

Use the universal gesture for that, rather than your voice

Anyway, when you get sick aren’t you supposed to sound like Phoebe from Friends when she was sick?

Re: Lost Voice

M_M  marry me

Re: Lost Voice

Im not sick! Iv just lost my voice… thats not an illness. I dont have a cough or any other sick like symptoms.

I’l do more than give him a gesture, they silly plonker hung his washing outside when I told him not to as it would rain today, he did it anyway. He’s gone out to play football and muggings here had to take his clothes down in the flipping rain with no umbrella as my sister has nicked it. If they know whats good for them, they’l stay out tonight.

Re: Lost Voice

Shave his eyebrows off tonight. Go on. You know you want to.

Re: Lost Voice

No, I musn't, last time I plucked his eyebrows, my daddi gave me such a telling off that I must never leave any visual evidence of torture on my brother ever again.

Iv done the salt thing and it hasnt worked. :(

Re: Lost Voice

Then I have the perfect revenge for you. Warm a tube of toothpaste gently so it's close to body temperature. Lay the toothpaste over his eyelids whilst he sleeps. When he wakes up and opens his eyes, the toothpaste will enter his eyes and he'll get a serious mint burn.

Or... stick 2 strips of waxing paper on each of his eyebrows. Technically, you won't be the one removing his brows, and you can deny doing it ;)

Re: Lost Voice

Maddy, that is positively awful! He's my teeny tiny only baby brother... I'm not about to kill him with Aquafresh! I plucked his eyebrows for his own good, with him awake and with consent.

Your evil!

Re: Lost Voice

You need to record your voice and post it in the audio gallery, so an appropriate remedy can be suggested.

Re: Lost Voice

Miss_M, you disappoint me. I was expecting a northerner like you to be even more evil than I. But it turns out that deep deep down you’re just plain nice :frowning: :bummer:

Re: Lost Voice

No shes not...its a facade

she pinches little children when their mothers arent looking..she told me so herself...when she had a voice

Missy where did you lose your voice and how very careless of you!

Re: Lost Voice

missy ....suroor is right about water .....take as much hot as u can tolerate....not boiling hot though!!

another thing .....chew a few whole black peppers ....it hits right on the affected area in throat!!

Re: Lost Voice

Uh oh, feeling any better MM?

Re: Lost Voice

Maddy, all girls are nice deep deep down. :p

Afia, I'v done the salt hot water thing and it doesnt seem to be working. My daddi's advice was to not speak to anyone and drink Kaava with honey.

It keeps getting worse and worse. :(

Re: Lost Voice

Perhaps you could try a cup of tea, with a few lemondrops and one or two tea spoons of honey in it. It's good when you catch a cold, but also very good for your throat.

Also a table spoon of olive oil can do miracles, for your soar throat as well as for a cold. It doesn't taste very good, but when you don't drink water over it, it soothes the throat.
