Unfortunately for you, there is no way to control it :P. And its better that way. If us desis could dish out baby boys at will, wed upset the balance of male:female in the world, causing irreversible ecological damage :soldier:

There is a 50-50 chance of either boy or girl, due to the genetic nature of sex-determination. BUT, If you really really really must have a boy, for reasons other than personal bias, and are ready to dish out some serious cash, and dont mind straying from the norms a bit, then, along with the duas, see a genetics specialist. Have him extract a Y chromosed gamete from your husband, fuse it with an egg from you and plant it in your uterus. (This should be possible… I guess…they cloned dolly after all…) That would insure a boy.

I am sorry but the entire idea of trying to control the sex of your baby is disgusting! Why cant people just appreciate the birth of life!

I can kind of understand the cultural pressure that you have to bear a boy child but its very sad. I always wanted girls, never knew what I'd do with a boy and I was afraid that I wouldnt be able to relate. But now, with my 3 boys, I dont know how I'd ever handle a girl. And I thank God/Allah every single day for the blessings I have, to have 3 littles.
Its a blessing to have a CHILD. Boy OR girl. Be happy with what you have and what you are given.

I'm sorry...............I just don't agree with people asking for dua's to conceive a BOY....
Please don't take offence, but people should be making dua's to conceive a healthy child with a long life span...................
There are people on Allah's earth who would give everything to have a BABY...never mind whethe it's boy or girl

Problem is ppl r neva happy even if it is a healthy baby girl. Sad that society dictates the preference of boys. Im so grateful for my daughter. I neva had a sister and i cant wait till shes older and we can do so many girly things together like shopping and chilling out together. Cant wait!

Keep on trying with your spouse as often as possible eventually you may get one. Conditions apply though.
On a serious note what wrong with girls dude/dudette? I say girls are cool.

Pathetic... is the right word. If people really want to control the sex of their baby, they should actually try to have girls ! (the female to male ratio is below 1 in the indian subcontinent)

I personally think it's really shallow to "pray for a baby boy"..for two reasons:
a) people should pray for a healthy baby with a long and fulfilled life
"Rabbi'ul hablee mi'nas saaleheen"
"Ya Allah humeh nekh sahil wali lambi umaar walee ek aulad naseeb kijyeh"
AND
b) If everyone prayed for a boy and gave birth to a boy...humaree nasal kaiseh ageh barhegee???

If you have the money then your gynaecologist can advise you about sex selection techniques and centres that do it. These involve IVF.
However, i agree with people, Girls are cool.

yeah everyone has prefrences, i have two beautiful healthy daughters if i ever get pregnant again i would like a boy, Just the same way if i had 2 boys i would have wanted a girl. i would love a mix, however having said that its all Allahs will, you will get what you are given and you should be happy because trust me there are people out there who would die for a baby so dwelling on the sex really isnt important. The only dua on my lips would be for a healthy child. and thats what should matter at the end of the day.
