Add methi dana seeds to any oil that you're using (preferably olive oil). It does wonders for hair, I have to tell ya. But make sure not to keep it in for more than 2-4 hours.
hey shay ........ u mean we should throws the methi danas out of oil after 2-3 hrs or keep the oil massaged in hair for 2-3 hrs ????
Re: Losing / Thining Hair
I READ today in an pakistani newspaper a doc giving advice on hair loss and new hair growth, she said leave methi seeds in water overnght and then next day appl the water only to ur scalp. leave for 3 hours. shud see new hair growth in 1 month or more...so is water ok too>

Re: Losing / Thining Hair
High Carb Intake/Minimal Exercise --> Excess Insulin Levels --->Excess Androgens (Male Hormones) ----->Hair Loss
So if you are overweight/underactive, becoming active will balance out your hormone levels and improve your hair. Also, removing stress helps. Cortisol (the body's stress hormone) also causes excess insulin levels. Remember that all the hair you have is dead, so if it's already damaged, you aren't going to see a glossy sheen as soon as you start implementing changes. But over a year, you would definitely see improvement in the hair. I read in psychology that long hair is a sign of beauty in women b/c it gives a sign of fertility and health. So it makes sense that suboptimal health might be affecting the hair.
I don't think an increase in DHT is related solely to the insulin levels in the blood, but general fat concentration does play a role.
Re: Losing / Thining Hair
very informative thread, thank you ladies, I will def give the methi stuff a try, but i have noticed a difference in my hair fall ever since i have started to take liquid iron, and also a nutritionist suggested I take Kelp for iodine ( i have under active thyroid). Now im not sure which one is giving me the results or if its both, but i have also noticed a drop in hairfall.
Also went to another new GP and discussed this, she mentioned doing tests for high levels of testosterone and suggested maybe that i go on the pill which she says is proven to lower testosterone levels and thus reduce hairfall (not much use to me at the moment, as Im trying for a baby) ![]()
