So if you are overweight/underactive, becoming active will balance out your hormone levels and improve your hair. Also, removing stress helps. Cortisol (the body’s stress hormone) also causes excess insulin levels. Remember that all the hair you have is dead, so if it’s already damaged, you aren’t going to see a glossy sheen as soon as you start implementing changes. But over a year, you would definitely see improvement in the hair. I read in psychology that long hair is a sign of beauty in women b/c it gives a sign of fertility and health. So it makes sense that suboptimal health might be affecting the hair.

I don’t think an increase in DHT is related solely to the insulin levels in the blood, but general fat concentration does play a role.
