^ True, had Saeed Anwar not got injured at the wong time he would have played in the 1992 World Cup instead of Aamir Sohail. Saeed Anwar and Ramiz Raja would have opened the innings for Pakistan.
Aamir was no doubt better than Salman Butt, Imran Farhat (but that isn't saying much, is it?) but he should be grateful that Imran managed to get the best out of an 'average' player

GA, I dont remember Anwar getting unfit before 92WC....was he?
2ndly, if anwar was injured at that time, then It wasnt just Anwar's injury that kept him out of that tournament....................one also has to remember that other than sohail, Inzi had emerged months before 92 WC and scored some good runs opening and ....................also Zahid Fazal had scored some runs at top of the order....................so In Imran's mind these two couple have backed up and opened inning in case sohail/ramiz combo didnt work..... And Also, one more important thing that a lot people dont know is one important guy in PCB and selection committee was a man who preferred some one who didnt speak the language that anwar spoke....unfortunate, but that is how it was!!!!

my problem isn't with Sethi's bacha jamoora. it is with Sethi himself. what a little lizard he is. yellow journalist kaheen ka.
and after seeing what Butt did when he was made captain only because he was edumacated, Sethi's Cambridge degree shouldn't mean a whole lot to us.

Anwar was not in the team because Imran did not think much of him and preferred the likes of Sohail, Ramiz Raja and Zahid Fazal. Anwar was able to come back in the team and establish himself only after Imran was out of the team. Anwar was not alone to Imran's selective preferences. Shoaib Mohammad was another player that could never impress Imran Khan.

oh god….what an idot kashif abbassi is..and talat is even worst….I am really disappointed... they both already decided that they got to defend the players at all cost even if any participant gives some valid reasons to tackle issue under discussion……what kind of pathetic journalists are these people….such a low quality…no professionalism….no preparation..no IQ….no arguments….no substance……nothing....and these are our top anchors….look at their IQ …and we want to give flood relief money to these idiots….
talat huusain is such an idiot…he had one sentence..."qualify nahieen quantify karo"...oh bhai kaya quantify karo?.....and he is defending asif taking drugs…and that too by giving stupid examples….it is OK to take drugs because aussies do that? Babar Sattar person comes across as very articulate and talks a lot of sense. Very impressed. Lets make him the PCB head !!
As PD wrote - Amir Sohail did well to put those two jokers (hosts) in place. I am not a big fan of Sohail's cricket commentary but he is making a lot of sense here esp when he says that it does not matter whether these allegations are true/untrue, serious/non-serious....the important thing to ask is why is Pakistan so frequently involved in these type of controversies and not other countries. Also, Sohail's point about celebrities needing lifestyles and the need for money to support it (given player insecurities around selection) is also interesting.

PD, that's one of the biggest problems of our nation! We never want to admit that we can be at fault. Everything bad that happens is a conspiracy against us. I really hope that this episode makes the government take some serious steps to fix this problem once and for all (wishful thinking, I know!). Better yet, if some of these players are proven guilty, then they should be arrested and tried in England.
Also, totally agree with you regarding the anchors. One trend I have seen with our channels is that any anchor who can speak really fast and confidently is regarded as a very knowledgeable and qualified one, even if he/she is totally wrong. So many channels have such anchors who just speak without citing their sources and people all over Pakistan believe them just because they are so confident about what they are saying. God knows how many danga fasadaat have been started by such anchors!
