so i’m planning my kidlets first birthday iA and i need some ideas for loot bags. the kids range in age from 6 months to 12 years so i’ll be doing personalised loot bags for them. here are the ideas i have so far:
age-appropriate books
sunhats/sunglasses
crayons/colouring books
paint kits
sidewalk chalk
bubbles
rattles (for the wee babies)
what else can i add that you would normally get at the dollar store. i got a lot of kids to buy for and i want to keep it looowww budget.
*stickers…If it was my kid who got stickers, she will love you forever…!
*Those $ store games…I am not sure I can explain but I have seen small, hand held plastic game thingies.Something like where you have to move a ball along a maze or paddle balls etc.
*If you are putting in crayons etc, maybe fancy writing pads.I always find them cute.
*Arts & crafts stuff for older kids maybe.Something like this Bulk Plastic Suncatcher and Paint Craft Sets at DollarTree.com
at the dollar stores in toronto they have these arts and crafts kits with play dough and a bunch of shaping moulds for two dollars. they are ideal for toddler and 3 to 6 age group. There are also crafts kits that have a mould and some paint and plaster of paris figures (cars, butter flies etc.) or plaster of paris and plastic mould to make the figurines some of them had pre made figurines of plaster of paris so that kids can paint them, i got those for younger kids and for older ones i bought the ones you have to add water to plaster of paris, pour it into moulds to make figures and then paint them.
You should check Oriental Trading(online website) for lots of ideas…their prices are very reasonable and you can even find coupon codes on google. What I love the most is they have favors for themed birthdays. We had a jungle theme birthday for my son and they had these really cute bubbles with different jungle animal shapes and I also found really nice favor boxes which were a BIG HIT and they didn’t cost much at all!
i had to do age specific loot bags too for when midget turned 1…
for teh babies.. i added a bath toy. bought a pack and we had 6 babies so luckily the net had 6 bath toys in it .. i just divided it
and baby food bottles one each. the parents actually fed their babies taht at the bday haha..
oh and i also bought a pack of onesies .. there were 8 in them.. kept 2 for midget and gave the other 6 in loots bags for teh babies
everyone else has given great ideas… damn sgc.. im all excited ! and im not even coming! damn you hard!
what Khawateen said.....I don't think I've ever looked as forward to a childs birthday party as I am to Gabe's birthday inshahallah - and I'm not even going :(
^ its true! dollarama is pretty awesome. what's the best dollarama in the city? i know the one at college park is meant to be great, but any in 'sauga?
reidi, are those at dollarama or one of the independent dollar stores around town?
!
The regular green ones.......they also have the disney character cars, lightening mcqueen tow mater etc, hot wheels and color changing cars (if u run hot/ cold water the car changes colors) for one to two dollars that are sold for six dollars at regular store. All of them usually carry almost the same variety (i think you can get the same things in sauga).
If you want to do a piñata go for healthier snacks and a pull string pinata(safer for younger kids as no hitting involved). I wrapped small home made rice crispy squares(the recipe at the back of rice crispy cereal box), fruit snacks and pop corns) in small bags and put them in piñata rather than candies, You can also add nuts and small boxed raisins, as i sent it to his school i didn't add nuts to it . The string ones have several strings so all of the kids can pull them together and since every goody was wrapped every one got to have one with out any fighting.
Ps. Dollarama also carries play dough brand play dough in packs of 4 for two dollars.
good thread and good timings.... I am also planning birthdays for my kids......and some of the ideas are great...
i have been to partypackgers recently to check some party supplies and fun activities for kids...... does anyone of you know any other place like that in mississauga or surroundings? ..... any good place for Pinatas? ....i m also looking for gifts under $15 for the families (dont wanna do only candy, crayon etc. just for kids)... any suggestions? ......
Corruptangel....i really like the site you mentioned..... just bit reluctant to order something online....do you get what you see online? were you satisfied?
all great ideas! we did the same for my daughters first birthday with different loot bags for different ages. got most of the items from the dollar store and a few from target's dollar section.

I was 100% satisfied with what I had ordered. I think the best thing about this site is there are reviews and ratings so I only ordered items that had ratings and reviews. What you see is what you'll get as long as you read up the reviews and descriptions!
