Loopholes in Religion

Re: Loopholes in Religion

It’s only fair I answered ur question I have watched only 6 min of video I posted. And haven’t watched the one u posted.

Also, I wouldn’t contest ANY religion being dear to its followers. Hence don’t feel need to watch ur video. But will watch it weekend.

Am puzzled why u feel Krishna would disagree with my signature quote.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

Just saw this. Now u have me thoroughly confused.

You have no problems writing lengthy essays. But won’t answer a simple question from me abt ur comment on my signature.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

Ok … Well Krishna character spends the best part of 2 or 3 episodes on the Mahabarta TV show, convincing Arjun to fight … and the same applies on the copy of the Baghwad Gita I have at home - not only is he riding a chariot of war - but he is giving Arjun the motivation to fight - to kill.

He is not exactly saying here that - when we hurt someone we hurt ourselves … although I think the sentiments could be contextualised … That when we hurt anyone (out of injustice) we harm ourselves … He was not a pacifist … that was my claim.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

Ok. Got it. I assumed that is what you meant. But didn’t want to conclude that’s what you meant.

You probably know more abt Gita than I do. IMO, Krishna was simply asking Arjuna to do his Dharma..do his duty. As a Kshatriya it was Arjunas duty to fight for justice. Part of fighting is someone does get killed. But that is not same as hurting the other person.

The message I take is we should do our duty. Not that we should hurt others.

The quote in my signature, to me is so powerful. When we do wrong to others and end up hurting them, we chip away at our own humanity and end up hurting ourselves.

IMO this is not inconsistent with the GITA.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

With context I can accept and embrace the two positions …duty and no harm…

Re: Loopholes in Religion

“Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.”
[5:32] Quran.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

Yes - that is also consistent.

Re: Loopholes in Religion

This is stunning.

Just WOW… this is God of old testament(torah --plasms) and Quran, and of Jesus(pbuh)'s teaching.

PS: talk about consistencies :halo:

Re: Loopholes in Religion

Some say the Mahabharata never did happen. Advice to fight against evil applies to each of us. Control our dark side. Fight against it.

Hinduism also teaches one God. I learnt that about 15 years ago. Book by I think some one named Narayanan.

But I have never had anything negative to say about any religion. All religions and beliefs have my respect.
