.
Munni, excellent topic, and I wish I had the guts to post this on here, since i have been thinking about this for a while now.
I wear hijab and although i rarely wear makeup, I do wear lipgloss, light lipstick on a regular basis. And yes, I am still confused about this. I have bad skin and sometimes I have to wear makeup to remind myself that I look okay with some make up on to hide scars etc. Else what bad skin can do to your self esteem, only those know who have it. :)
And people stare at you regardless of if you are wearing make up or not, when you are a hijabi. Thats atleast my experience.
Maybe one day I will be comfortable with what I look like and then maybe i will stop wearing makeup. Till then, I will stay confused.
Only YOU know your true intentions of wearing make up. If you can live with it, go for it.
I guess it depends on why you wear hijab.
We are required to dress modestly, and many people believe that one can dress modestly with or without hijab.
Many women wear hijab for reasons other than modesty. For example, I've heard hijabis say that they wear hijab to SHOW they are Muslim women. It is separate from modesty or hiding beauty or whatever. Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing makeup with hijab as long as you are being sincere.
I agree with sahar on this one. If the question is about modesty, then one can be modest with or without hijab…
the question about whether a hijabi should wear make up or not is i guess harder to understand cus it really does depend on ones opinion on modesty and what ones intentions are..
most people have said what i think neways.. so no need for me to repeat ![]()
just wanted to add though, does it really matter if its light lipstick, or dark… or what kind u wear? the question is.. if its worn to attract the opposite sex, then its wrong… and heavy or light makeup can do that
p.s i thought guys hated makeup :halo: so why not just pack it on??
defeats the purpose
guilty i love my eyeliner
I don't think there's anything wrong with eyeliner Tikhi :p
Well, I must say that the title of this post is very funny.
"Looking sexy in Hijab".... I mean, the main purpose of hijab is not to look sexy. If you want to, do not wear hijab. This also gives a slight feeling of difference in your belief and your actions. If you want to look sexy, wear sexy clothes and make up, why wear hijab, wanting to look sexy?
This is something I dont get.
I think its beautiful and hijabis should also care about what they look like. I mean dont totally overdo it… but makeup that makes u look nice is cool. :k: I dont think it defeats the purpose at all, infact its good cos u say, hay shes a hijabi but she looks after herself too… which is great.

when u have drop-dead-gorgeous eyes, it does..
j/k :p
i really dont want to turn this into a male bashing thread... but i think men are slightly to blame this notion of looknig sexy in a hijab.. in my short lived life, ive never heard a hijabi say "oh man this hijab makes me look sexy"... instead ive heard several men/munde stating "man... the hijab is so sexy.. a girl looks sooo attractive in it"
its stuff like this which prob makes hijabis wear makeup for the wrong reasons
sadzz its probably not stuff like that. i believe you do not wear hijab, thereby you probably do not understand the motivation behind women wearing makeup with hijab. it would be highly demeaning for ladies who do wear hijab with makeup (and I know a few) to have someone postulate that they 'probably' do so because men find it sexy.
personal appearance is important in Islam. it is important to look good (not that I should be saying this). we wouldnt be recommended to put itr on, follow all the guidelines for personal hygiene and appearance if the sole motivation for taking care of personal appearance was to attract the opposite sex.
when you follow hijab you are probably doing the strictest interpretation of 'modesty' as explained and agreed upon by Ulema. enforcing additional constraints motivated by what you percieve as defeating the spirit, etc etc is Bidah.
ravage, i must disagree with u on me not being able to understand just cus i dont wear a hijab. Wearing a hijab does not give u some sort of super natural powers and does not give u anymore senses or feelings. A female is a female regardless of what she wears...
I think intentions on wearing makeup do not vary with hijab or not. U either wear it to get attention or u dont. U wear it for personal hygene or u dont..
its as simple as that..
and i also disagree with ur comment bout when you follow hijab you are probably doing the strictest interpretation of 'modesty'
modesty comes from within... not with the layers of clothes one wears...
ciao
no one here knows what someone is thinking, so u cant say oh they ‘probably’ wear makeup cos guys find it sexy.. trust me, no one wears a hijab cos they reckon guys would love it. and no muslim guys (in their right minds) would brand a girl in a hijab “sexy”. An attractive girl will look equally attractive in a hijab… sexy is the fact that a girl cares about her religion and practices islam, holds islam the highest in her priorities… now that combined with a nice personality and good looks to go with it is a deadly combination, :k: and hay if she happens to look good in a hijab, shes probably very pretty as it is.
no guys find just the hijab “sexy” or the women wearing it sexy, just cos shes wearing the piece of cloth on her head.
kaka jee, i didnt say that all hijabis wear it cus they think gusy find it sexy :halo: u missed the point completely
and where in my post do i say u said that all girls wear it cos men find it sexy?
i said no girls wear it cos guys find it sexy. so u missed my point completely i think, not me.

thats exactly what im saying.... how do u know that??
common sense..
do u actually believe that some girls wear it cos guys find it sexy???? please.
kaka... pls do not try to understand the mind of a female...
if a girl can try to dress nicely to attract a guy, whats stopping her doing the same with makeup? puhleeez
and no thats not “exactly” what ur saying… u inferred from my post that i thought u thought every girl wears it cos guys find it sexy. and i just repeated again that thats not what i,m saying.
how can u infer from my “no girls wear it cos they think guys find it sexy”, and come up with…
bolo bolo, jawaaab do raadhaa! mujhe mere sawalon ka jawab chahiye!
