…when our daughter was month or so old I saw diaper pails at babies r us and thought, why would you need a diaper pail??? regular garbage can would work just fine..baby’s potty doesn’t smell or anything.
A year later we can’t stand the smell. Moral of the story: human **** stinks. Scratch that: All forms of **** stinks.
So now we’re looking to replace our not-for-the-task trash can in the bathroom to something that can contain the odor and yet is convenient to use.
I see some brands like Safety 1st, Genie, or Diaper Dekor etc. Any recommendations? Please keep in mind the requirements: Odor containment, convenience, price in that order. Thanks in advance.
Roman - I never had one. I put the poopy diaper in a plastic bag or two (I know I am adding to the landfills) and it goes in the outside garbage dumpster.
If that is too much work for you - I hear diaper genie is a WONDERFUL product.
Diaper Genie is wonderful. Yet I had a pretty big drive to get to the store that sold the refills for it so when it ran out, I'd use the plastic grocery store bags - put the diaper in, tie it up tight and put it in the trash. Hands down, the diaper genie was better tho.
I have heard any of the diaper pails work fine upto a time frame and then after a while no matter how much you wash and disinfect the pail, it smells disgusting.
Diaper genie is good but you really need to air it out and disinfect it every now and then.
I am assuming that you live in an apartment and dont have an outside trash bin, otherwise the best thing is to put the dirty diaper in a shopping bag, wrap it and tie the top and dispose it in the regular outside bin
dumpster is on the other side of the building and is quite a walk. You can't do that on regular basis with cold. It's simply not feasible in our situation.
