Looking for a particular maxi...

Salam girls,

I recently went to a wedding and saw a maxi on one of the guests and am completely in LOVE with the design. I have searched online for ages to find anything that remotely resembled it but with no luck. I think its a Pakistani design, might be Indian not sure. Ill describe it to you girls, let me know if you think you may have seen something like it and wear I may be able to buy it.

It was bright pink in colour.

The neck had an embroided section/material that looked like a choker but was attached to the dress. The chest area was embroided somewhat like this:

On the back was a diamond shaped pink patch and the edges were lightly embroided. The prettiest part was that from the border of the diamond-shaped patch on the back, light-weight material came out like wings and attached to the wrists (it was full sleeve).

It came out a bit like this, (except it came from the back not from the sides):

The bright pink material was very thin and fine. Underneath the fine material you could see she was wearing a silver shimmery skirt like this:

The pink material was 3/4 in length and the silver skirt finished off the length and went up to the ankles.

I dont know if Im making sense - my description does not do justice to the dress - it was very unique and elegant.

I havent been to Pakistan for awhile, so I dont know if there are any new designs that could fit my description.

If any of you girls have seen such a dress anywhere, could you let me know where or perhaps a particular shopping area in Pakistan where I could find a dress like that.

Thanks in advance!

OMFG its a MUMMY! RUN!!!

Looking for a particular maxi...

I think you're looking for a abaya/jilbab etc whatever they're called.

Re: Looking for a particular maxi...

^ No, it wasn't an abaya/jilbab. You could tell that its design and embroidery was very desi - I think maybe it sounds like that in my description. I don't think there would be any online images - now that I think about it, the lady had perhaps designed it herself because it was very unique. I just thought that maybe someone may have seen a similar design in Pakistan.

Re: Looking for a particular maxi…

Are you talking about a high low dress? Some of the description isn’t clear but if you could see and comment resemblance with this dress in terms of cuts?

Re: Looking for a particular maxi…

Ok let me elaborate…

The design was like this: - it had a glittery silver skirt and the top dress was a fine, see-through kapra with no embroidery except on the chest area…

As mentioned in my first post, fine material came out from the back of the dress (looked a bit like wings) and the ends were attached to her wrists.

^ in this abaya the material comes out from her sides but in the dress Im talking about - the material came out from the top part of her back.

Does this make more sense?

Thanks for trying to understand what Im trying to describe - I know what the dress looks like in my head but when Im trying to describe it - I dont know if Im getting through…:bummer:

Re: Looking for a particular maxi...

It could have been pleated sheer fabric attached to the back.. I know it's 'in' for formal-wear in Lahore, lots of 'chunnats' much like how a 'kharra dupatta' is attached.

Re: Looking for a particular maxi…

Making replica of this one

Re: Looking for a particular maxi...

Yes, I think it probably was - despite my urge to stalk her and check out her dress close up, I didnt - that would of have been weird lol
I usually dont obsess over dresses too much - but this dress was just too beautiful - the way it was put together was very elegant...

It seems like no one has seen a dress of its like (or my description still sucks...lol) - I thought maybe theres a new trend in Pakistan that Im nt aware of... oh well ...

Re: Looking for a particular maxi…

Guess what everyone - I FOUND IT

It is from ‘Sehr’ by Alléchant
Here are the pics from the designers facebook page - these designs differ slightly in terms of colour and embroidery plus the one I originally saw had some adjustments to the ‘wings’ and the amount of ‘flow’ she had but overall its what I was looking for.

Re: Looking for a particular maxi...

^I like their maxi dresses, am gonna order something from them in a few months!
