Look me in the eye

Re: Look me in the eye

Sorry to say, but I believe your theory of 'look me in the eye' comes directly from the backwaters of any trailer park...

In the old days in English schools, the student never looked at the teacher directly as a mark of respect...Always looked down...

In well educated families, even today in America, when a father reprimands his son, the son never makes eye contact but looks down...

During drill instructions, the sargeant or the drill instructor is never looked in the eyes...

In Japan, the highest sign of disrespect is making eye contact with your senior or superior...

In Buddhist culture, it was considered highly disrespectful if a Lama or a priest was made eye contact with...

And many other examples...

But of course, in redneckistan, someone practicing their culture or social norms is questioned, poked, made fun of or must be made to change...

Don't blame you at all...

Re: Look me in the eye

On a side note Seminole,

We may have our differences and we may not agree on many issues, as a result I say things to you which are quite contrary to the teachings of my faith, like me calling you a redneck or ignorant or something…

Please do not take any stock in what I say personally as a reflection of how my faith teaches to argue, debate or explain…It’s just something that comes out when I am pissy or something…

If during the course of our arguments here on GS I have offended you personally on any level, I apologise…But I still won’t promise not to do it in the future because I might…:cb:

Now that’s over with, you can continue with your redneck rant…

Re: Look me in the eye

lol, i am sure it does not bother him anymore:whistling

Re: Look me in the eye

You really have no clue. Your pomposity while you go on with your clueless diatribes are quite amusing. No one is poking fun or insulting here except you. Rednecks have no clue about social, academic and business etiquette, kinda like you. You talk of Bhuddist culture, Japanese culture, military culture and ancient English academia, NONE of which have to due with modern American social and academia culture which this thread addresses.

I suggest you study Business Etiquette, Miss Manners, or any other modern American culture study of social norms and mores and you will find that it is disrespectul to not make eye contact. As I alluded, if you even knew what a real redneck was, you would know they don't have the social knowledge to even know eye contact is a show of respect in American society.

I will say it again, your closed-mindedness, social ignorance and insulting manner much more mimics trailor park trash than anything I aspire to. You are no better than the 'trailor park' mentality you lament.

Your insulting rants are only verification that your self claimed piety and righteousness have as much validity as the idealogy you advocate.

Re: Look me in the eye

^ that sounds like a judge's speech when sentencing a criminal. Mr Justice Seminole.

Re: Look me in the eye

Tried to look up material and came across the following:

There’s more on the means of how to lower one’s gaze and material related to it. Those interested can read up by accessing the link provided below.

Ref: Means of helping oneself to lower one’s gaze

PS. I thought I’d clarify I looked up material, so that it could be of assistance. I am by no means a good or ideal Muslim.

Re: Look me in the eye

^^excellent post Sadiyah

Re: Look me in the eye

in my point of view.. a man dont have to lower his gaze when talking to woman.( but its good if he do ).. the verse u quoted can also mean that u CAN look at her but dont look at her in a bad sense..
if u can look at her while talking to her...without even getting any evil thoughts.....then i guess its ok...

u dont have to take everything literally..

Re: Look me in the eye

When the Quran asks you to lower your gaze, it means your DIRTY gaze. You need eye contact when communicating - its a communication method, and I'm sorry but you need to communicate with your female population. We can't continue to be ignored forever, whether you like it or not.

Re: Look me in the eye

its a necessity today due to norms dictated by our modern culture so very true.corporate culture thrives on it and so does our everyday life.It definitely isnt the muslim culture but hell, hum hain hi jali mussalman.as always you give ur own personal interpretation of the Quran.love at first sight, lust at first sight, both happen wen u look DUH.

man looks at woman innocently, but damn she is attractive, now gaze is lowered to look elsewhere.

taking it literally will prevent any such scenario,ur interpretation leaves to the choice of men n women, lol,as if it wud stop people from sinning at all.

Pathway
Eye===>optic nerve===> brain===>sexual centre stimulated (woohoo)===>hormonal discharge ===>blood hot n rushing===>going to the genitalia===>we know wat happens now dont we ,all bcoz of the first gaze.

As usual pcg gives her null point of view, without thought of background or future or application.

Re: Look me in the eye

Jazaak Allah Khair sis,

This just goes to show how our religion is so much in contrast with the culture of the Kuffaar and Mushrikeen. We can never be true to God and yet be at home with their culture, yes we have many similarities but the differences are far greater, I would advice all my brethren to go back home to your countries, take the brethren from amongst the reverts with you, migrate like the holy Prophet Sal-Allaaho-Alaihe-Wassallam and his noble family and companions did, go to the land of Islam, only stay if you have a genuine reason such as studies, preaching or work provided you are strong of faith and your religious principles are not at threat.

I know I’m saying all this sat in the UK but I plan on going back to Pakistan very soon, they don’t want us in their country because we don’t want to leave ours ways, and even if we did they’ll find other reasons to dispice us, so it is better if we went back home to our own land and people for which we pine, so that everyone is happy.

Re: Look me in the eye

Hey, if you can't look at a woman without having issues "down under", then by all means, keep looking down.

Most guys, I think, don't get erected when they look at just any woman.

Re: Look me in the eye

Mostly religious guys get erection when looking at ANY women!!!!!
