Again, don't be so quick to claim some morally superior culture. That soap box you are speaking from is as flimsy as your "not looking into the eye = protects women" theory.

In your culture it may show respect, but in other cultures (such as the scenario in this thread), it is a show of disrespect. The woman at the university was not 'protected' by the Muslim not looking into her eyes, unless the man was such a sicko that doing so would make him rape her.

In Saudi Arabia, not looking at a woman while talking to her is practiced while in the US, men and women talk as if pals...

The incidence of rape in SA is zilch...No rapes...Ever...

What is the ratio here? If you had a daughter, where do you believe she would be most safe?

It may be a show of disrespect to you but so is not allowing your daughters, mothers and sisters to spend nights out with strange men for pleasure...

Different strokes for different folks...No need to question other's motives if they are different...You don't have to accept them but you must respect them...
