Hey DB! I am actually 5’1 and my valima lehnga has a trail. I had tried it on and it looks absolutely fine for my height. I also was contemplating the length of my shirt and I am keeping it at my thighs. I wanted to try and stay with the trends but then I also wanted my dress to be timeless. I could of gone a little longer, even to my knees but I decided to keep it at that length, practical is good but then I also don’t want to wear out my dress, I want to keep it like my mom kept hers for me. 
I feel like the length at my thighs is perfect for me.
But I don’t think there is anything wrong with going a bit longer DB, I have a picture in here somewhere in my computer of a bride that was wearing a longer shirt and she looks pretty short, but it still looks really nice. She is also on the healthier side but she looks just as nice! hmmm let me try to dig it up!
