Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

Re: Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

I think this thread is now leading to a wrong discussion... Whats with calling someone joyless, mentioning it as a problem with "desis" or labeling it as a practice of Kufaar (yes this tradition emerged from them but just if you gift roses to your life partner/potential life partner and they become happy then i don't think its a sin) ? I just asked a simple question because if your spouse is expecting something from you (which wont do a harm to even a single person on planet a bit if done or not done... in both ways) then though you have your own views... still you should find a mid way....

Respect for those who dislike the idea of Valentines day and for those too who want to celebrate it or want to do something special on that day for their loved ones. Live and let live.

Why should i tell you?? Go read all posts in this thread and you will get to know .. and for 2nd part of your question, i would say keep on thinking :)

Re: Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

The idea of Valentines day is just a stupid one in itself. What it truly is a capitalisation by big corporations to make hefty profits from nonsense.

Re: Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

Stop wearing western clothes. Its a symbol and unIslamic clothing. Stop eating with knives and forks.

Better yet -

Stop living in the Kuffar's country.

You are certainly a “cyber intellectual” with no brain, and people like you make my day … :khumar:

Re: Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

I'm in the uk and my fiancee is in Pakistan. And we had a small argument over this. To me not getting a gift on our first valentines is a bit depressing. Really I never used to agree with valentines and believe that love should be shown everyday not just on 1 specific day with presents. Well anyway I created a fuss because tbh I started feeling sorry for myself, I thought if he does not get me a gift then that must mean he is very tight with money! I do believe you should send her at least something small so when she gets asked by friends or family what she got for valentines, at least she can give an answer... You dont have to say its for valentines, just say you got the gift to show how much she means to you and want her to keep smiling. Nobody wants a tight husband and I believe that is how you are being portrayed. Also let me know what you decide to do! Fingers crossed I get something sweet :)

Re: Long distance engagement and Valentine's day

If doing smtng so small like sending a little present will make her happy, then why not?..doesnt matter if its V-day or whatever day..if you think such a small act could make someone else really happy, then there is no point in thinking further.
