I know you guys don’t agree with this, but what is the meaning of a ban like this, how can it be Islamic from the perspective of these authorities?

Nothing to do with Islam, it seems police did that to appease the Religious parties. Before taleban took over Fata, women there did not even take burqa, they’d cover themselves with a chaddar.
