way to go Manchester council! I also read somewhere that there is a petition circulating asking the gov't to take away any sort of social welface assistance from those that are charged and convicted.
There is. It is supposeed to have 97,000 plus on it already! It needs 100,000. It has probably hit that mark already as i type LOL. I cannot get on to the website and paste the link as it appear to be very busy.

I heard some left wing journalist on the radio denounce this petition as barbaric . How dare taxpayers demand that their taxes stop being spent supporting these people who destroyed their businesses, homes and cars.

I think we should set up an exchange program where people from rural Pakistan or Africa are exchanged for these thugs. Then they can see that poverty is not being unable to have the latest pair of £200 trainers. It's having to walk 9 miles just to have access to clean water, and deciding which one of your family goes hungry tonight.
These thugs have free healthcare, free education and free housing. All the tools you need to make a better life for yourself. They have abused this and no longer deserve to have any of it.

cutting them off of social welfare will lead to more crimes. they are unable, unwilling or incapable of finding and holding a job, so the only option they will have is more criminal activity. if you squeeze a balloon, it will bulge on the sides of it...somehow, you have to find another way to pacify them...like, Govt provide more on the job training programs.

It is really sad that people have lost their lives due to the mindless violence. It coudl have all been avoided but the criminal under-class have got to such a level that they have made police ineffective, places no go areas and much more.
The police can be heavy handed at times but what do you expect with such a high level of crime in the black community? There are lots of decent black people out there but they get overshadowed by the criminal elemts in their society. When blacks dont get their way they riot. Why has there been sudden Sikh and Muslim unity in some aras of the Midlands and West London? They realise that their petty aggrievances are nothing to what the criminal elements in the black communty inflict upon them. A lot of Desis in Birmingham are fed up of being harrassed by black gangs. The Desis own businesses which probably suffer.
It was not just black people that took part in the riots but many others too but for such a small population they were heavily represented.
Thankfully most Asian Muslim "Ghetto's" in the North West of England and Yorkshire were quiet. i expected Bradistan to erupt and the media to have a field day. I heard a mosque was burnt down in Leeds. i am glad the only real trouble in the north was in Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds because people talk of deprived communities who are not integrated and always tense. The North is seen as less integrated than the South and Midlands. There was a little bit of violence in Bury, Oldham apparently but Lancashire appeared to be quiet.

This is the problem with some elements in the left wing - they make the problems worse. They feel sorry for these criminals and want to pamper them. It does not work. They need to feel fear. If they were afraid then believe me many would change.
I bet this left wing journalist lives in some suburban area away from the problems of the inner city?
I am glad such a petition has started. People need to react more and I think the people are having enough. People were out protecting their community from all walks of life. People died to protect their communities.
These criminals need long and harsh sentences. They need to be thrown in the system with nothing. They will soon appreciate poverty and deprivation.

The lack in wisdom is in the ethos of capitalism and consumerism ... the rich get richer and people are directed toward the ideal of spending and buying as the mark of what is good ... those who have less will never be able to compete and after being taught that to "have property and material goods" is what is good then they will try every means to gain those things ...
A balanced society needs to have the "means of gaining wealth" positioned higher in value than simply "the gaining of wealth by any means" ... it needs to encourage "charity" as the best thing for people ... and leave behind "consumerism" ...
Only when the rich start to control their lavishness and media starts to praise investment in the poor then the government needn't have to tax so highly nor would social support be needed. I disagree with mercenary2k on just that one point ... people are not given too much that they are satisfied not to work and educate themselves ... the people are not taught that the greatest ideal is "effort" and not "achievement" ...
At the moment the effort is disporpotionate to the wealth - at the moment the people who truly work hard and do an honest living are the poorer people and the dishonesty is found in big money ventures as well as little to no effort in those ventures is put in by the capitalists.
Secularism provides the basis to separate not just church and state but also moral fibre is also disintegrated as a result.

It's not about being deprived of ones needs - it's about being deprived of the "ideals of society" which is a luxurious lifestyle.
