Its all covered by insurance cos its a massive chain store, but still its just a big inconvenience and I don’t think it was nice for him to come to work and find the shop had been ransacked and there was nothing left.
The lack in wisdom is in the ethos of capitalism and consumerism ... the rich get richer and people are directed toward the ideal of spending and buying as the mark of what is good ... those who have less will never be able to compete and after being taught that to "have property and material goods" is what is good then they will try every means to gain those things ...
A balanced society needs to have the "means of gaining wealth" positioned higher in value than simply "the gaining of wealth by any means" ... it needs to encourage "charity" as the best thing for people ... and leave behind "consumerism" ...
Only when the rich start to control their lavishness and media starts to praise investment in the poor then the government needn't have to tax so highly nor would social support be needed. I disagree with mercenary2k on just that one point ... people are not given too much that they are satisfied not to work and educate themselves ... the people are not taught that the greatest ideal is "effort" and not "achievement" ...
At the moment the effort is disporpotionate to the wealth - at the moment the people who truly work hard and do an honest living are the poorer people and the dishonesty is found in big money ventures as well as little to no effort in those ventures is put in by the capitalists.
Secularism provides the basis to separate not just church and state but also moral fibre is also disintegrated as a result.
At times I do not think the rich are actually that flashy with their cash and posessions. The middle classes and upper classes penny pinch more than the working and benefits classes.
People think that by having material possesions they improve their status in life. People take short cuts to quick wealth. They steal, they de-fraud, they will committ other crimes for money.
Having a BMW, Balckberry is not a right, it is a luxury. My friends cousin asked him for a Blackberry as a gift. For him a simple mobile to text and call was enough but they wanted a brand to show off.
** I’ve heard Theresa May and the Old Etonians whose hols have been curtailed (many would say they’re the real victims) saying the behaviour is “unjustifiable” and “unacceptable”. Wow! Thanks guys! What a wonderful use of the planet’s fast depleting oxygen resources, now that’s been dealt with can we move onto more taxing matters like whether or not Jack The Ripper was a ladies man? And what the hell do bears get up to in those woods?**
They say the rain up north prevented another day of riots.
Totally disgraceful, many of my friends were a few seconds away from the violence .. thankfully many of them were able to find secure places to wait. They way it all went pear shapped is beyond me.
A e-petition has been signed reaching 100,000 - which means its up for debate in the house of commons. Should these hooligans loose their benefits if they are convicted?
Russell Brand is a joke.. he has only a certain audience that he can relate to.
So glad to hear its all covered by insurance though! But still it must have been very upsetting to see that! Hope they catch the thugs who did this on cctv etc.
Hope everything works out and gets back to normal quicky for your bro’s business Inshallah.
**We are seriously concerned about the safety of Nuclear Devices in Great Britain.
The terrorists have shown how they can destroy a city like London in a few hours. If the nukes get into their hands they could wreck havoc.
Thus UK needs to "DO MORE" for the safety of its nuclear arsenal and assure the Pakistanis in general and Pakistan in particular that its nuclear assets are in safe hands and it has a proper command & control system in place!
