London / UK Riots

Re: London - riots

I do feel sorry for a lot of these people as they have not had it very easy in life. It cannot be easy not having a father or other positive role models, a mother who probably gave birth to you because of a drunken thumble, etc etc etc. There are many genuine reasons why society is getting worse. I do not just blame the culprist involved but the authorities who dont actually do anything about them.

Who deprives these people though? To be honest a lot of them deprive themselves. It is ok to talk about deprivation but how many of these thugs will be wanting to work, tried hard at school..........fair enough some of the schools they go to dont really bother about them and employers might not accept them........but the problem of the deprivation argument is that it assumes some one else is responsible. Sadly it will just get worse.

The PM will need to look into cuts form certain key areas ie policing.

Re: London - riots

London walooN - ek month k extra rashan lay lo :)

Re: London - riots

Ilford, Bethnall Green and Ealing side of London have large Asian populations with many Muslims. Does that mean that the riots in these areas are being committed by Desis?

Re: London - riots

They are just arsonists.

My god even people have been stripped of their clothes!! Whatever next?!

Re: London - riots

Don of London, **Altaf Bhai should APPEAL**** to the looters to STOP and it will stop! :D**

Re: London - riots

The Police aren't doing anything.

In north east London Turkish shopkeepers and families fought back against the thugs preventing them from looting and detrosying their area - is that what it will come down to b/c the Police won't help us? Will we have to start defending ourselves?

Re: London - riots

Yep. :/

Re: London - riots

Someone else mentioned him here. Who is he?!!

Re: London - riots

**David Cameron has just announced that there will be 16000 police personnel on the street as compared to 6000 that were deployed last night.

let's hope this will make a difference. iA**

Re: London - riots

The worse part is that even a burglar has rights in this country! E.g. if they break into your home and you attack them - then you get arrested for assault! So if you try to defend yourself against these thugs - chances are you'll get arrested too!!

Theresa May - what a pathetic excuse for a Home Secretary!! Did anyone hear her on the radio today?!

Re: London - riots

Gwad, I hope so!! Inshallah.

I heard there were just under 4500 police out on the streets last night.

Re: London - riots

Most of these laws are stupid. I haven't heard her, what did she say though?

Re: London - riots

She said "we don't do water-cannons" i.e. the police in order to stop the thugs! Why the heck not?!! She said a lot more...it just got worse.

*'The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon,' she said. 'The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities.'
*
Well the communities give their consent to use the water-cannons!!!

She is incompetent. Its like she's siding with the thugs.

Re: London - riots

Good for the Turks and defending themselves!!

Re: London - riots

they must be careful though. If they kill someone, they may be charged with murder. i think it's dangerous for the locals to fight back. this would escalate the situation one notch up. i think it's the job of the law enforcement agencies. most businesses are insured. properties can be replaced but life can't be. agree?

Re: London - riots

Yes you're right!

The mosque not far from where I live was almost attacked and a few members (who live there) came out and shooed some youths away. Then there were suddenly 100's of Muslims guarding the mosque all through the night.

Apparently they phoned for the Police endlessly but noone came.

Re: London - riots

These youths are cowards and can be easily frightened so yeah more good for those Turks and mosque people. They're not scared of police coz they know they won't beat them up or anything but I hear 450 have been arrested in two days so guess the drama will be over in another 2 days.

Re: London - riots

The Government has not been good to the youth in the UK, Connexions (career guidance for 13-19 yr olds) has been closed down along with many other career guidance agencies (agencies which have also helped me in the past). Ema's have also stopped along with many other fundings to help teenagers and then u have tuition fees which has also risen. Furthermore, they have even made it difficult to get job seekers, regardless of all the cuts they have nothing to offer the youth in return. Lewisham has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country and its not surprising why. I read somewhere recently that because of the rise in universities in the past decade (labour government) we have too many "educated people" therefore, the current government are now trying to balance things out by making it difficult for the youth to get an education.

It is very sad what is happening outside and I am not justifying it but I agree that these teenagers do need a distraction otherwise situations like the past few days will continue.

Re: London - riots

Peace Khalil KhaaN FaaKhta

It is their right to defend their properties and localities - the only way to stop this is for the community to act ... alongside the police. You say a life can't be replaced, but this is not about that ... it is about fitnah and fassad and this is potentially far worse ... if people die protecting others and their property then they are martyrs. The kids know that the police will only be allowed to do so much but they will be scared of citizens acting in an organised manner, because there are no rules for citizens.

Give these youth other activities to get busy with and to keep them awake during the day when they are most likely sleeping the parents need to get involved too.

Re: London - riots

Hareem this is what is expected from teenagers who are bored and have nothing better to do, they have no sense of community because they haven't been brought up in a community that cares. Majority of these kids have gone through severe deprivation they don't care about their future they live for today. shooting them in the leg/head wont prove anything apart from causing more violence. However, I believe that if these teenagers were educated and had a future to work towards then their thinking would change. Imagine what the situation will be in another few years when we have ten's of thousands of uneducated, unemployed bored teenagers sitting at home. The thought is scary and if London continues in the way it is it's gonna be a scary place to live.
