i have read different versions of this problem so i know the answer

he would ask the sisters - if I ask the other person if this route leads to the city would she reply yes?

so the scenarios are as follows.
assume lady x - truth and lady y - false

1. If the road does lead to the city
   a. If the above question is asked to lady X , then she would say ‘no’ because Y is a liar and Y when asked would reply ‘no’
   b. If the above question is asked to lady Y , Y’s answer would be ‘no’ because X speaks true and Y would lie that X would say ‘no’
   So if the lady(X or Y) says ‘no’ then the road does lead to the city.

2. If the road does not lead to the city
   a. If the above question is asked to lady X , then she would say ‘yes’ because Y is a liar and Y when asked would reply ‘yes’
   b. If the above question is asked to lady Y , Y’s answer would be ‘yes’ because X speaks true and Y would lie that X would say ‘yes’
   So if the lady(X or Y) says ‘yes’ then the road does not lead to the city.

This is an old riddle so I already know the answer. He will ask either of the sister this question
''If i ask other sister which path takes you to the city, what would be her answer."

Explanation
If he was talking to the sister who speaks the truth, she’ll let him know the path to the forest since the other sister is going to lie.

If he was talking to the sister who lies, she’ll let him know the path to the forest as well because she’s the one lying.

So in either case he’ll take the opposite path which will lead him to the city.

if i knew the answer, I wouldn’t have replied and waited till the end so that other people could have tried
