Not giving any ideas, but it does look like a primitive torture tool.

Paandaans came in all kinds of designs. And then there would be a matching ughaaldaans. We used to call it zardah instead of tambakku. Not sure if there is a technical difference between the two ( paging @KKF )

Zardah is the sweet dish, no?
