I answered your previous question without seeking clarification so now I am seeking clarification. Please detail the significance of the candle more carefully at the moment it holds no relevance to the puzzle. Who lights the candle? Who holds the candle? Is it the same candle? What does it mean? “Bridge can’t be crossed without candle” … If you give them a candle each it makes the candle irrelevant … i’m guessing you only have one candle and it needs to remain on the bridge while all four have crossed. Please clarify …

Sorry, I wasn’t clear about the light in my question. So bridge can only be crossed if one person has a light (candle or torch) in his hand. And at the moment, they have only one light source. So if two people cross the bridge with one holding the light. The other two (which are waiting at the other end of the bridge) can’t cross the bridge until someone brings the light source back to them.

Hahaha ^psyah. I had all those questions in mind too! Thought I was gonna complicate things and look stubborn so nevermind asking. Glad you did.

OK, assuming the torch allows light for all, C (9 min) & D (12 min) go together. Once C (9 min) has crossed, B (4 min) can start. When D (12 min) is done, A (3 min) can join. Totaling 15 min.

Please see my clarifications above. No one can walk on the bridge without the light source. So in your case, when C (9 min) is done … D (12 min) can’t complete his walk unless someone else brings the light source to him. So he will just stop there.
