Indians have crying hoarse about the infiltrators for years. If past experience is anything to go by, I would rather believe the Indian version of the story. Initially there were no regular soldiers in Kargil, it took quite a bit of years for Mush to agree that army regulars were part of the offensive. None of the dead from the Pakistan side was accepted by the Pakistanis govt fearing that the truth would be out.
This incident happened just after the army in Pakistan declared that the internal threat was more potent rather than the threat from India. I dont think that was just a coincidence.

the report I read sounds credible and said India started building a tower facing India between the LOC and the current Indian built fence. That tells me the there is nothing wrong with that since that means they did not cross the LOC and build anything. The Pak local platoon did not like this and started harassing and sniping which started the whole tit for tat raids.

I take it that you are stationed at the LoC and are able to read the minds of the soldiers there and none of them are "wanting" to attack.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Soldiers on the LOC want to attack and finish the opponent That is why they are called Soldiers. Also, that is why they do not run the Country and another set of people known as the Government make such decisions.
On that note, there has been some Fresh Heavy firing from the Pakistani side after a lull of 48 hours. Just before the Flag March.. !!

A point being missed while folks from the comfort of their homes lob verbal volleys at each other: the foot soldiers on both sides are the real victims. They toil under difficult weather conditions for meager salary ( I am not referring to the officer class). My guess is if they were the decision makers, peace would have resulted long back.
Our hearts should ache any time a jawan from either side is killed/ wounded either in skirmishes or resulting from nature/ weather/ avalanches.
Shame on the governments and all of us for being so callous about their plight.

So true !!!. It was India who sneaked soldiers into Kargil and claimed that they were mujaheddin. The attack just happened after a report that the internal threat perception was greater than the threat from India. Was it just a coincidence.
India has nothing to gain by being belligerent towards Pakistan. India is doing very well and any untoward incident would have the FIIs thinking twice about investing in India. India has more to loose than Pakistan at this point because of this war mongering.

Usual tactics of Pak army to divert the attention from its wrong doings in Pakistan.
First they call TuQ to destablize the govt, then they get CJ to sack PM and to divert the attention from its kartoots they started this skirmish at the border. Afterall nothing takes away the attention more than a clash with India.
Timing is perfect, it happened right before India was going to give visa on arrival for pakistanis and pakistani players were going to play in india. They knew india will kick them out, keeping the hate alive and hence they stay in business.
Poor hina khar, she dont know what is going on yet she has to cover the real perpetrators.
