Living without a cell phone

I haven’t had a cell phone for two years now, and believe me life is so peaceful without it.. but it’s a tough decision to make since my friends were not too happy about it. So as a result, I’m the last one to know if there is a get together or an up coming event or not and sometimes I don’t get to know it at all. Their excuse is that they can’t text me anymore, they can still phone me at my home but nooo they just want to text me. I’m saving $200 - $300 a month by not having that headache, and I wouldn’t change it for anyone. So my question to you is, if given the chance would you letgo of your cell phone or can live without it or not?

Re: Living without a cell phone

living without cell phone is fine by me :)

but without broadband :(

Re: Living without a cell phone

It all boils down to your social circle and professional life. You can live without a cell phone in your "student" life but once you are out of uni, it's a necessity.

Re: Living without a cell phone

^ You think so? But weren't people living without it before?

Re: Living without a cell phone

ahh silly me for asking this but what is broadband?

Re: Living without a cell phone

People were living without internet and email in 80's. The point is, since then world has changed a lot, so is the communication media. Cellphone now is not just about making calls or receiving text messages. It's all about connectivity AND being approachable.

I can't imagine life without my droid! I'd really feel cut off from the world without a mobile, it's not possible in this day and age. suppose you're out and there's an emergency, you start looking for a payphone?

Re: Living without a cell phone

I can live without a cell phone. Everybody my age is on Facebook 24/7 anyway.

Re: Living without a cell phone

There are roaming charges, you go over your day time minutes and text msgs, browsing web etc etc. It adds up you know.

Re: Living without a cell phone

I was born with a toilet, so I don't see a fuss there.. but cell phone is different, it just came like 10yrs ago and completely taking over our lives.

Re: Living without a cell phone

You serious, so I’m not the only one here. Feels good

Re: Living without a cell phone

Well I pay for a cell phone account for myself, my wife and my dad. Paying for all those accounts doesn't even go above $150 for us (combined). I'm using a couple of add-ons including a data plan and I pay for roaming as well.
