Living in USA

Re: Living in USA

The nuances I am getting are that we no longer see ourselves as 1 UMMAH ... Where one part of us is hurt the rest are in pain ... We are aligning ourselves more and more with political identities, thus creating a degree of separation from each other.

Among us I can say this and that, but to non-Muslims, I am clear about this ... I say ... They are sensitive people, who should not be provoked ... We in the west live by western ideals and sentiments and they in their countries live by their ideals ...Thus I am now beginning to try to make excuses for our irrational brothers.

Re: Living in USA

I think muslims living in Western countries need to visit muslim countries and experience the culture at least once a year to get out of the trance. And by experiencing the culture I don't mean living in 5 star hotels and going on shopping sprees.

In Morocco, to me it was almost a shock to see how muslims there are still in touch with Islam...how much love they have for Islam. We, on the other hand, are just worried about making the best out of this worldly life.

Re: Living in USA

are you justifying the deaths of those US citizen just because some ex-con made a hate video?

Good argument. But my question remains the same. How is USA responsible for that video?

Re: Living in USA

and vice versa.

Living in USA

The question is why should muslims around the world stay quiet about theyre oppression, just so you muslims in the US can live peacefully? Or whilst they and their famlies are merely bigsplats for the US drone! Why should their immediate concern be about you?

The attack in benghazi btw was a planned attack by ansar al sharia, an al qaeda affiliate and not the work of protesters of the film as previously told.

Re: Living in USA

exactly. Muslims living in Muslim countries look at Muslims living in USA as less of a Muslim. They think that if we are not burning flags and destroying cars on the street of new york then we dont love Prophet Mohammad. They think that if we are patriotic to USA then it means we are anti-muslims.

Burden of treating Muslims as 1 ummah is not only on Muslims living in west. its on every Muslim.

Re: Living in USA

Ma Mooli, where did I say that Muslims around the world should not protest against oppression. My question is that what USA has anything to do with the video.

Re: Living in USA

Peace TLK

Did what I wrote look like a justification? How can I justify madness? No, I was giving a breakdown for cause and blame ...

One unjustified act lead to another ... this I concede is an explanation ... but not a justification ... I am indeed stressing that both acts are unjustified and all the mini acts in between - such as YouTube not censoring the video immediately ... It would be wrong to look at any incident in isolation outside the initial - disturbance to the peace. It had a runaway effect like a chain reaction ...

It takes big people to stop the chain reaction ... the way to do it - is to absorb criticism and not to criticise others.

Re: Living in USA

alright, just we find him (the one who made the video) and deal with him or treat him the way we want to...............just by then, you will come to know, what USA has anything to do with the video or the producer of that video!! BY-JUST-THEN!!

Re: Living in USA

The USA have nothing to do with that video ... but will they then not pay to protect the producer?

Re: Living in USA

Probably the same way America holds Pakistan responsible for harbouring Al Qaeda and Taliban in its north for 9/11 attacks. The same way it alleged Iraq to have weapons of mass destruction making this an excuse to attack them.
It's give the dog a bad name and then hang him thing that's going on.

Living in USA

Its done a lot worse than a video. Alot worse. The protests are minor in comparison.

Re: Living in USA

As someone said, the US will protect its citizens, but has a very heavy handed foreign policy.

I also think we need to forget about the myth of the Ummah. It's unsustainable. Albanian Muslims are different from Desis. Desi Muslims are different from Arabs. Even the changes in leadership amongst the Caliphates were often associated with race and geography. Syrians replaced Arabians. Turks replaced Syrians. Humans have a bias towards race, and to think that Muslims will somehow live as one big happy nation is unrealistic.

Living in USA

Wow just wow

Re: Living in USA

What a mess!

I concur with your thoughts and feelings TLK.

Movie was wrong.

The uneducated protesters were wrong.

The killing of ambassador was wrong. There should never be two views on these.

There are two different views on who killed the ambassador in Libya.

It's very important to understand who killed ambassador.

One view is that it was angry mob. But let's not fool ourselves by outright believing in it. It was a planned granade propelled attack. It was planned and carried out by same crooked people who were put in charge by US. They just used this movie as an opportunity. There is whole lot of international dirty politics behind all this.

USA had nothing to do with this and burning flags and burning own properties are idiotic acts. I agree.

But All muslims should be asking and expecting US to do, is "Do More!!!!!"

Ban the movie and do it officially...
Don't give us a lame excuse and hide behind freedom of speech because it is not. It's a Hate Crime.

That is All.

Re: Living in USA

^well-said!

Re: Living in USA

lol. there is a difference in what a country means to its residents and to the rest of the world.

Its such an awesome logic to give to someone " look , people in our country live a very good life, so our country is the best in the world". This logic of americans amazes me all the time.

one ambassador was killed in a ' terrorist attack' and you go on here accusing each and every muslim country and all the protesters of ''killing their ambassador**S **and burning consulates".

Re: Living in USA

the movie was shown on youtube and i think youtube refused to take it off. what has this got to do with the u.s. government ? our pak government did ban youtube which i think was a good step but how many muslims around the globe are actually going to stop using youtube and for how long? obama/hilary condemned the video which i think was not necessary.

and why do more ? it is a waste of time that we are giving this so much attention. don't we have better things to do ? nobody would have cared about the video if it wasn't for the publicity it received due to the [violent] protests.

the alleged guy who made the video is an egyption and settled in the u.s. so he is an arab. from what i read, he is was a christian/anti islam (ofcourse!). Going by how minorities are treated in pakistan, i can see why he would have been so much against muslims.

i am tired of us blaming west for our problems. i think this mindset is one of the reasons what is holding us back from making progress. we are our worst enemies.
