I understand that the nature of Islam teaches us to have great respect for the prophet and the Quran. At the same we believe and follow this because WE are Muslim. You cannot expect other cultures and belief systems to follow the same cardinal rude as you do and therefore say it is absolutely unacceptable. Why should they listen to us when they believe the opposite. How many Muslims respect Hindu gods? Or Jesus and what he is respected for-- they consider him Allahs son! How seriously do Muslims respect that??? They don't either! Those are just two very simple examples but my point is that, when people say any disrespect to islam, Quran, prophet is unacceptable, well that's because YOU believe , not the tenure world and they don't have to. Instead of burning flags and killings and bombs. Why not spread awareness and tolerance through the prophets actual teachings and not just follow them blindly.

Why do we forget that the prophet himself was initially faced with so much resistance by your very own ancestors, who may have been the ones to throw the first stones at him, or have been involved in his death threats. We were all converts at some point in our ancestral history weren't we. Do you think the prophet stood up with violence. Obviously not as our great religious history teaches us. Why have people forgotten the foundation of our beliefs, respect and tolerance for everything living and breathing, so much as a tiny ant. Persuade with your optimistic words not with your negative actions. Hypocrisy goes both ways.

Writing that makes me feel like such a hippy.

In addition to that, recently an Italian artist has ruined a 150 year old painting if Jesus. His face is completely deformed to look like a monkey. Are the Italian people furious? Yes. Are they going to have her killed or thrown in jail for something ridiculous like that? No. But I'm sure she is facing the consequences of her actions now. As a Muslim are you offended by this woman's work? Probably not for most. Do you care about Jesus' painting being ruined? Again, probably not. But for them this is very unacceptable even if it was a mistake but they handle it in a civilized manner, rather than how our fellow Islamic countries react...with violence.
